Noarlunga putting in a special request for not having to play the grand final rematch on the Sunday is weak. The fact the SFL accepted it and it isn't happening next year is even worse. The reasoning being that they'll lose too much money back at the club for presos on a Sunday night not a Saturday. I wasn't at Noarlunga's AGM but I have good feeling the difference between them being in the black and not the red isn't the difference in one night of presentations being on a Sunday.

Thought FH did a great job hosting this year too.

At the SFL AGM a draft of the draw was released and clubs where informed to take back to clubs and any issues to contact the league and am sure many clubs would for one reason or another .

Jet-airport One of the strengths of the footy club is the strong bond between 17.5 to A grade possibly due to the fact Bazz has them all training together as one with the exception on Thursday night the lads break into their grades for the last hour .

I will add most of the lads have played since minis and form a strong bond off field as their partners are also close friends .

The executive and football department are currently working through coaching roles within the whole of the Footy club .

Comer is a “shoe in” for the role then.....

Southern Football League to introduce divisive last-disposal before out-of-bounds rule

THE Southern Football League has adopted the last-disposal before out-of-bounds rule for the upcoming season.

SFL president Craig Warman said the rule was introduced to ensure the league was in line with the SANFL, which brought in the new law in 2016 to help speed up the game and ease congestion.

Warman said the rule, which leads to a free against the side that kicks or handballs the ball over the boundary, would also ensure continuity across the southern zone.

The Great Southern League and the Kangaroo Island Football League had already adopted it.

“We just think this is a natural progression,” Warman said.

“We have a lot of young kids that play in the SANFL with South Adelaide and (this will) make it an easier transition for them instead of having two sets of rules.

“There will probably be a little bit of controversy as there always is with an introduction of a new rule.”

Warman said the rule had worked well in the SANFL, leading to fewer throw-ins and less time-wasting.

Noarlunga president Trevor Mitton welcomed the move.

“We’re OK with it,” Mitton said.

“The only concern we would have is with the junior grades when you haven’t got certified umpires doing the job.

“If a young lad or a young lady is running the boundary line, it adds that bit more pressure on them.

“But as long as the rule is consistent … I think the rule is fairly straightforward and I think the players will adapt to it, no problems.”

But Christies Beach president Paul Daly was not in favour of the change.


“I’m not a fan of it,” Daly said.

“I tend to think we are tinkering with the rules too much.

“At our level, I don’t think we need to speed up the game.”

The SFL season will start on Saturday, April 14.

The boundary umpires don't adjudicate the last touch they only adjudicate when the ball crosses the line.

It is the field umpires responsibility to determine if it was a clear last disposal (free kick) or has been touched/fumbled over the line (thrown in).

SENIOR COLTS (UNDER 17.5) COACH

Port Noarlunga Football Club requires a senior colts coach. We have the numbers to field a team this season after not having a team several years. This is a very important role and the coach will work closely with the coaches from other grades to foster this age group and provide a pathway to senior football. This position requires level 1 youth accreditation and the club will pay for accreditation. This position would be a good starting point for anyone who wishes to pursue a coaching career or a recently retired senior player who still wants to be involved in football.
