Experienced coach with success. It'd be a very wise decision.

I'd reappoint Fidge before even looking at Mitchell's application. The guy is a joke. Surely the last 6 clubs he's been involved with over the last few years would say the same thing. no contest if Keamy is available and wants it

Lets not start this again...

At the moment we are 13th best team in comp and until we start performing from Round 1 2011 keep a lid on it.

Recruits and new coaches mean nothing if they don't perform.

Is Brad Smith still going to stay involved with the Rams? I'd imagine they'd want him to stick around or has he applied for other coaching vacancies?

WLF- it is people like you who give the impression to the rest of the league that marion Football Club is cashed up and can buy whoever or what ever they want. The only thing this does is makes prospective players and incumbent players ask for money, and a lot more than they are worth. Only half of the blokes at marion that get $ deserve it and would be able to get it somewhere else, and saying that probably not as much

The reality is, the money lies with the Sports and social club. they contract out the dining facilities, and fleece old people of their pension cheques to build bigger club rooms. The footy club, as do all of the sporting clubs get some money in lieu of not being able to make money from meals, bar, functions, and generally not operate like a proper footy club. Most of the players do not pay their subs and the club struggles away with a small supporter base and even less people willing to do anything.

It is a shame MUFF did not get the coaching gig. he would have been great, but a novice coach cannot compete with the credentials of the bloke they have gone for. only time will tell if it was a good move.

And Mr Juicy- if you did have 70K to spend, people would love to know how you spent it!!!!!!!!!!!

Mr juicy you are the edited that bandied the figure around. i merely stated that if that is what you claimed to have and you finished 3rd bottom you didn't use it all, or use it very well ;)

WLF- there is no finger pointing. what i am saying to you is fact. How do you know marion are 'gonna spend up big'. you are not on the committee and never have been! When people go on forums and say 'marion are gonna spend up big next year' all it does its give the impression to people that marion are just paying $$$ for everyone. This makes potential recruits think that marion has heaps of coin and it attracts mercenaries who are chasing $ which perpetuates the cycle of blokes coming to the club for 1 year, taking their money, contributing nothing, playing crap, then leaving. I'll pose this question to you- is it better to pay to bring anyone to your club, or if you cannot get who you want should the club invest in making it a great place for all those involved????

The responsibility for these things lies with the coach/ football manager, or whoever approves the money being spent. without diligent homework you get stung. a phone call or 2 doesn't cost much to find out if the fella can play a bit and/or is a good bloke to have around!

I beleive the appointment of Keam is the move in the right that the Marion Football Club needs.
Tell me WLF do you beleive that a group of players that hold the club to ransom to get paid should be paid?
And Bomberland should a player put his hand out for money year after year threatening to move to another club after doing a couple of pre-season trainings at different clubs?
The actions of these sort of players is why the club is in the position that it is in!
