All gone very quiet. Not sure if anyone has registered interest in the proposal and surely time is running out if they were serious abou the inclusion of the SFL into the SANFL, or should I say SAAFL ranks.

Have heard 2 of the city based junior leagues are resisting it as well as the SFL so dare say the SANFL have a lot more work in front of them than what they may have thought.

Although have heard the down the hill SFL clubs are all for it which doesn't surprise.

I'm sure they are all for it, but they would be significantly outnumbered by those that aren't I would have thought.
Still can't find a single benefit of the proposed changes.

The only thing I know is that the Brighton Bombers will still be fronting up with 5 Saturday teams for the 20th season running, starting with the delightful drive to the Shoe in Round 1.

Southern Times Messenger, 13 Jan 2016, Page 69

Southern league to remain separate

THE Southern Football League will retain control of its junior league after refusing to allow the SANFL to take over.

The SANFL wanted to manage the association’s junior league up to under-16 level from this coming season to, according to an SANFL document, “assist clubs in attracting and retaining participants” and create improved development pathways.

But clubs involved with the SFL said they were happy with the way the association was running its junior league and did not want to join a newly created SANFL competition.

Southern Football League president Craig Warman was pleased the association would continue to oversee how its juniors were administered.

“The SANFL proposal itself has merit in some aspects, but it was the lack of detail our clubs were not happy with,” Warman said.

“We know there are some problems with the way juniors are run in the amateur league, but we don’t have any problems with ours.

“Our juniors are just a jewel in the crown when it comes to the Southern Football League.”

Under the new SANFL junior league, the Metro West and Metro South junior football leagues will be dissolved from season 2016 and will come under the control of the SANFL.

Clubs in the North Eastern Metropolitan Football League also voted to remain independent.
