Any news on the southern districts side to play next weekend (i think). Overheard at training last night that we have 5 blokes in the squad -Ramsey, Vick, the reavills & Schnyder. Who is coaching and how many players from the SFL are in the squad now that the SANFL & K.I league are organising it?

Barry Pilmore is coach and Steve HIll is assistant. Emu's that are in the squad are - Smith, Kettle, Bennets and B.Bayly... Is played at Berri oval next weekend, 3 games plus a final if you make it, 2 on saturday and 1 on sunday, then GF. Games are 2 x 20 minute halves and each team gets a 2 hour break in between games... Then the Berri girls should be preparing themselves for a busy night at "The Vines" on saturday night... Go get em boys...!!!

If people want to believe that the emus are on the verge of imploding then i dare say they will be doing that at their own peril.

Morphies are getting closer to having their best 21 on their park and the carrot of winning 5 on the trot will mean everyone is as hungry as ever for success. looks like it will shape up to be a ripping finals series this year with 5 teams in my opinion having a genuine chance of being premiers.

who are the 5 teams you are talking about, i always thought it was a super 6 may 7 now or rae reynella and moprhie park the next level down. Also which team gets the 8th spot this year?

Just something to ponder and if anybody has any spare time on there hand (most blokes in here) what will the final ladder look like

I'd imagine the 5 teams that swooper is talking about are Cove, Morphett Vale, Happy Valley, Reynella and Brighton, with Porties and maybe Flaggies further back. Thats probably your top 7, in my opinion, with 8th spot coming from Morphie Parks, Marion or Noarlunga. Sure Morphie Parks pushed Brighton for a period in the game, and beat Reynella, but they seem to be a different side when the Bays are playing. However they have improved. The bottom four will probably be Aldinga, Christies, Lonsdale and Hackham.

Only a couple of players from Hills involved, quite a few from Willunga. Most of the support staff from KI.

The big Six of recent times have been Morphett, Reynella, Cove, Valley, Brighton and Port, with Porties struggling to keep up at times, unable to cover injuries as well as their rivals. IMO (I assume that means "In My Opinion") Port are slightly behind the other five in 2008, and the Flag is between those five. Port will definitely make the Eight again.
My bet is the usual "Six" plus Flagstaff, with eighth spot between Marion and Morphie Park.
Shoes aren't quite there, and forget Christies Beach (can't find a Smilie with the thumbs down)
One word of warning ---- watch Aldinga late in the season. Could come with a rush with as many as five in a row.

Nah mate Gilly would be about 29 by now i reckon. Altho he'd be pretty happy that you asked that question. even tho he's not in the squad, if you ask the cove on-ballers, in his current form probably best ruckman in the comp at the moment. has been carrying the ruck for cove since we joined div 1 in 2002. Schnyder from cove is under 21 tho. Good to see the young fella get a gig in the squad. Has been one of our most consistent players all year.

Not suggesting you can't win now Fisho, but when you come out of this stretch against the Flag contenders I reckon there's big opportunities in the last five games against Christies, Hackham, Morphettville, Marion and the Lions.
It'll all depend how you stand up over this next month. Win, lose or draw, if you can maintain the footy form you showed last Saturday and come out of the stretch still playing as well, you are a chance of the clean sweep against those five. If by then you have knocked over one of these giants as well, good luck to you ! That could even mean finals

Good open contest this year with the league - good to see. Money still with Morphett Vale for mine - Proven finals performers - Others questionable!

all i've heard is that the brighton boys accounted for lonsadale easily today. it was about 30 odd to 5, somehting like that. its amazing how wellth the beers go down when the result is like that. But in Lonsdales defence, i did find out that lonsdale were injury done but the brighton boys are a quick unit. one to watch in the finals. I recon they are flying a bit under the radar especially now that they've finished their top six run and got a few bottom type teams to play. it does make me wonder about the whole draw particularly the way it has been dealt to a few clubs this year.

The Aldinga/Reynella game was a bit of a disappointment. Full credit to the Flies - they were a class act yesterday. I don't think we had enough preparation. Thought we did well against them in the 3rd quarter - btw, when's Milo's next anger management class? :lol : But there's a lot to work on. Incidentally, I reckon Scott Hunt is very underrated - time the coach realised what an asset he is.

Haven't seen any of the other scores yet - anyone got the word? Cheers.

heard you Morphies boys had a good challenge from Flaggies. I heard they matched you guys for three quarters and took up it right up to you, causing a bit of frustration for some of the Emu's. By the looks you didnt kick straight though, that could have made it a different story.

Flaggies must be a solid unit this year, who is playing well down there?

AFLFlyer- Flaggy jumped MV to a 4 goal to nil 1st quarter then MV slowly came back into the game, a strong breeze favoured the scoring to one end all day. Yes MV's goal kicking was off but this was partly due to Flaggies constant pressure all day, i think Pollard kicked about 1.10!!
Best players to date would have to include full forward Daniel Butcher, who played in the SFL side, David Kearsley, who also made the SFL squad of 25 this year, captain Dave Stevens and Saul Abbott is having a real good year. Good to that that we are having more and more contributers every week though and this is starting to show in our results. Promising times to come for the Falcons

1.9 was the figure used when heckling Polly for the majority of Saturday night!
Morphies down at quarter time but up again by half time, then the game just grinded along with us kicking behind after behind. Pretty average game by the Emus, biggest positive taken from the day being it didnt rain.
Also on other results i see Christies kicked 30 goals against Hackham - was anyone at this game? Judging my how Christies looked against us last week i rated Hackham a chance!
