Something about Biglands should be playing association. A very foolish remark and lucky to only escape with 14 days.

I see your point in that successful junior programs and A grade flags are what its all about and in the end B grade premierships dont mean much to anyone other that those that are involved in them however i still think you are way off the mark.

When was the last time a club with a weak B grade won an A grade premiership? You neednt look any further then the Emus third premiership of their current 4 to see how important depth in a club is. Aaron hill & ritter both go down with serious injuries in the prelim. Losing players of this quality would usually spell the end of your premiership hopes but we were able to call on Coletti and N Bayly (from memory) who were more then good enough to step up. If we didnt have such a strong B grade to call upon do you think we still would have won if we called up 2 C graders who probably train twice a year?

Also taking away the B grade you will find that many u/18s will be exposed to play at a standard they not yet ready for.

Disco (I still don't know why you guys call him that) and Bayly were very fortunate to have a premiership medal around their necks considering the B's lost

Who knows how most blokes nicknames come up at footy clubs, this one was carefully developed over a few years, usually plenty of booze and good times to match, suits him to a tee though...

I think poor old Cyclops raises some good points about the lack of depth in the comp though boys...he could just say it better
While Morphies is strong and half of their B grade can push for an A grade spot, some clubs are forced to play blokes who dont train, weigh over 100kg and are over 40yrs old. Some B grade teams dont trouble the scorers too often.
The percentage of players from an U/18 team who are likely to play A grade would be higher than the percentage of B grade players at most clubs i suspect.
I dont see the point in playing bigger bodies who will have less of an A grade future at a club. And holding kids back only creates a bigger hole to fill once the older blokes finally retire, which sends a club further downhill.
Do you think the Emus would be where they are today if they didnt give their kids a go? Exposing kids to a higher standard, instead of holding them back will only benefit a footy club in the long run.
So there might be some merit in promoting the U/18 comp a bit more which would improve the depth of the comp.
Is that what you were getting at Cyclops?

What are the games this week?

We have Christies at home should be an interesting game. What are they travelling like lovetotalkfooty?

How's Mckee been fairing lately, I hear a few of the boys aren't very impressed with what he's been doing, any truth?

These clubs that are struggling in B grade arent exactly setting the world alight in the junior comps either Dutchman. And i doubt there is any situation where a talented youngster is being held back (not SFL Spy style) by a 40 yo B grader. I'm sure if a struggling club has a talented junior they would encourage him to play at the highest standard possible (such as what hackham are doing with the lad that was mentioned a few pages back)

Reynella at home on Sunday Rodney, should be a cracker with a sizable crowd once again, bring Shrivery down for a look, would be good to catch up again... Beware Tony doesn't come into your changerooms after the game, i know it's after sign on date but you never know where he may be next year...

Sorry Swooper, i must have misinterpreted your post.
I thought you were concerned u/18s would be exposed to play at a standard they are not ready for if the B grade comp was to fall over. There are half a dozen clubs which are ok to watch, but Cyclops is saying we would be better off replacing non-competitive cricket score B grade games with competitive U/18 games. I dont necessarily agree, but strengthening the U/18 comp could be a way to backfill the gaps in the current B grade comp.
What is the other solution? Playing people with bigger bodies that have no A grade future? There's only one way to learn!
I think what Cyclops is saying is that by promoting the U/18 comp more it would improve the overall depth of the comp.

Agree that Rhino probably hasn't been fantastic and this week will be big for the both of your clubs. In his defence it is hard to be a star when you weigh in around 160kgs
