No doubt that Cove and Morphett Vale deserve equal favourtism at this point. Cove people may think they deserve outright favourtism but finals footy is played on grounds alot bigger than Cobra Park and I reckon their structure may not work as well. Happy Valley have been a sleeper no doubt. They don't kick the big scores but keep getting the job done. Brighton's true test comes in the next 4 weeks with the return of our "draw from hell", Reynella, Morphett Vale, Cove and finish off with Happy Valley. We'll then see how accurate Shoe Boy's assessment is.

Not much gets said about Tony Francis on this forum but he is a quality coach and bloke who places a strong emphasis on speed and fitness and being prepared to take a risk with a kid. We often joke about the Bombers being the "chardonnay set" but most of the senior lads work in blue collar jobs with a work ethic that transfers onto the footy field. The chardonnay and lattes are the domain of the supporters like me and Hot Dogs.

Have to say I agree with Brightons work ethic it is fantastic. I rate them highly this year but am just concerned about the bigger bodies of Cove and Morphett Vale especially. I think its been a very interesting year and am actually half interested in the finals series this year. Would be nice to see a new premiership side this year.

And on the whole Bag snatching down at Hackham land, we to have had gear go missing a couple of years back and were pretty sour about it, Hills has alot of mates at Lonnie and its hard when your mates stuff gets pinched.

On that though we had suspicions when it happened to us that it was an outsider who actually got into the rooms whilst the footy was on, never to be proven though with about $400-$500 worth of stuff gone missing it certainly left a bad taste in your mouth about the club.

Apologies lads but what is the current top 8 and will it change much? Is Matt Size playing some good footy at present after the pre-season drama of club choices? Will Marion feature?
From the recent talk I take it Cove and MV are the teams to beat but MV are not as dominate as in recent times?

How untrue DTH as long as I have been around Flagies are the chardonnay set. As for draw from hell I beleive it to be great run into the finals. As for Tony you get what you pay for? is it true he is about 20k per year.

Agree Shoe Boy about Flaggies. They seem to live in the very large shadow of Happy Valley, and their supporters (mostly Dads) are the biggest whingers going around. As I've said before on this forum, their senior players and officials need to grow up a bit and realise they are playing senior footy and not an extension of juniors. And it starts at the top with their skipper No. 5. What a sook that guy is. His christian name smacks of "chardonnay".

Fair play, Spoke with some Aldinga people who you would think are in the know and put it straight at them and they reject any knowledge of this. Have heard of ousting Lonsdale and replacing with a SAAFL side. (my opinion on Lonsdale is srap them, harsh words but we can not allow a boy's club to continue. How many more excuses for not getting of your but and doing the hard yards to have junior representive. You say you have a mini programme and that to is a farce, your senior coach comes to training when it suits FARCE. I am sick and tired of playing junior games all over the place to surfice sides like you. The SFL has propped you up to long and it is time to GO.) also heard Mclaren to visit the opportunities of coming back to SFL. You asked and that are some points

I like the honesty.

Im sure it will provoke some interesting response.
On the call about some people from Aldinga you have talked to I would suggest you talk to them after tonight as I heard a rumour that Hills representatives and the Pres are all meeting tonight at Aldingas, so Im not sure how well informed you are but my sources tell me alot different. Think it has even been quoted on here before about it?

I'm not from down south or anything, so correct me if I'm wrong here, but if Aldinga join the HFL, won't they have to travel up to Kersbrook? Surely Kersbrook and Aldinga, geographically, can't be in the same league?

Asked one of the top SFL officials about Aldinga's possible move to the Hills, and he also had no knowledge it. He thought I was raising the possibility of them going to Great Southern again, so he obviously didn't know of any imminent Hills move.

I was thinking the same thing, but then when you look at it it is only once a year either side has to travel I guess? Still only an hour and 45 you'd think?

If anyone is serious about moving to Hills from there, it's the worst move they could possibly make. Sure, it's workable for seniors, but their problems getting colts up and running would multiply many-fold. Parents just won't want to fork out considerable petrol money when better options are just down the road. It's madness.

But look at it from a parents point of view, maybe they would rather see there kids playing in a comp they are more competative in regardless of the cost?

Worst move ever, I can you tell you first hand that juniors will simply join clubs closer to home. The cost of petrol, subs and equipment is already stretching families so it would be out of hte question for most to add to this. Further more the hills country league is very ordinary - thre would be no value in it.

Last time I went to Aldinga the quality of housing being built down there was of upper market maybe the area has an influx of wealthy people who don't need to worry about fuel costs and enjoy country drives on weekends

I totally disagree there. Most parents don't have the time to travel too far for junior sports. Aldinga will lose a lot of their juniors to Willunga, McLaren or Myponga if they move to Hills
