Yeah all good points. Swooper all parents will have their vote most certainly.

Cyclops that is a very good point and it has been looked into with bus companies sponsoring the club and what not. I value all opinion in this and we by no means have made a dead set decision to go. There is a number of people at the club looking into it and seeing what positive and negative signs are out there for it.

Don't get me wrong here I am very passionate about what is best for the club and it is not my decision obviously. I am just merely trying to point out some ideas as you have, which are all fantastic and things I will be bringing up. Thanks for your thoughts, one thing I don't do is take everyones comments in a bad way or defensive way I think this sort of forum is perfect for getting outsiders points of view which can be very valuable.

Understand ZC what you say, to be honest there are so many good and bad sides to this which ever way we look at it. We are heading in the right direction and time will tell. Its definately not up to me or any individual this will be another vote into what the club as a whole wants.

I love the Sfl but am also sick of the floggings but who knows whats around the corner. Either the SFl starts with some action plans or others may consider other leagues also.

Just to correct you Cyclops, I think Hills only runs 2 junior age groups so they do start a little later. Having said that, I can get from Brighton to Aldinga in no more than 30 mins so Hills Div 2 is a massive travel difference. Plus how many of the opposition supporters will travel to Aldinga.

KD, not happy with the SAAFL call for Brighton. Have you seen the make up of Amateurs these days. Most clubs are north or north-east of Regency Road which when you also factor the traffic is miles away. The best move we ever made was to SFL in 1997, particularly for the way the juniors are structured as curtain raisers to the big boys. Have you ever seen the start of a B grade SAAFL game. Theres 2 men and a dog in attendance other than players and support staff.

Last I checked, Brighton is considered a Southern Suburb and quite entitled to be in a league called the Southern Football League. I know we bag the SFL admin at times but the league can boast the best Junior set up going around, at least for the clubs flush with juniors.

I agree dth, great move getting the bombers into the sfl,but why cant we get a few more from youre side of the hill.

And rather than driving to the other side of adelaide too see no juniors before the b grade just venture to sheriffs rd.

I can see your concern about winning Rodney, but Hills is still not the answer. Parents won't wear it, no matter what figures you show them. Would hate to see you guys go, but GSFL is a better answer if you are determined to make a change. (Another rumour I have heard suggests there may be room opening up shortly).
On staying in the SFL, winning is not all that far away (in terms of seasons rather than weeks). Right at this moment you're very close to winning fairly regularly in 2008 --- your standard is so close now that merely knowing how to finish your games off with a win could have had you close to finals this year. I can see finals in 2009.
Maybe the best answer is to bring back Division Two.

I could join the bagging of the Lions but I really respect some of the guys running that club. I do worry about their future with no juniors and a token amount of Minis. There just doesn't seem to be a next generation anywhere in sight.

BTP, You need at least 16 or 18 clubs to go back to 2 divisions and there will always be arguments as to who goes where. Plus if some Div 2 clubs struggle with Juniors, then the junior part of the Div will be token and kids will just nick off to Div 1 clubs anyway. This is what was happening to Div 2 back before the Divs were merged.

Think we should all get to the gentleman's day at Aldinga on the 10th August and discuss over a few beers, $30 entry, tickets at the bar now!!
This is also the first in a long time for the club :partyman:

Seeing as you pressed me on it, it is merely a whisper of what may lie in the future. It concerns the closest club geographically to the SFL possibly looking at a return. Definitely rumour only and probably not true, but you asked me. The guy that told me wasn't even sure it was true.
However, If the Sharks definitely want to leave, I'd advise them to check it out with the Crow lookalikes to see if aiming for a swap was an option before taking the long option.

Ok, time to give the Saints a bit of credit ---- you've always got to admire those who lift and prove their critics wrong.
A few weeks back those "around 40-goal" floggings (Bombers by 38 just prior to the Morphett disaster) had them looking safe to discard as a Finals prospect, but they sure have got their act together now. It's four out of five since then, and suddenly their seventh.
The way they are playing now they deserve to get in.

I doubt whether Mclarens would be looking for a move back to the SFL after working so hard to get into the GSFL. I think everyone is jumping on the 'Bag Mclaren' train after what has been posted on the GSFL forum.

Morphie Magic, can you make it??? depends on which Morphie turns up,the hired guns or the old school? saying that it wont make a diffrence to the eight as the top 4 are so far in front. :-#

Attitudes like that are reasons clubs fall away. Anyone who plays footy has the goal of winning a flag, the first step to that is making finals. Much easier to attract good players to a club that has just played finals than one who missed out.
