Some one had to say it and that is my thoughts? As for our boys it was a clean sweep in some of the worst conditions I have seen. The snior boys keep a finals chance alive and all other grades get a taste of September well done :D

You still have to keep encouraging them as much as possible. Although I don't know for sure, I think you'll probably find the people working hard to get them up on their feet again are not the ones who chose to pull out for a year. More like the ones who are trying to fix it.
Aldinga looked dead losses a couple of years ago, but look how competitive they are now.
Don't forget the Hawks copped a massive blow they didn't need a few weeks into the season as well.

Great day for the Bombers on Saturday. Only losing the U14 and also easily knocking off the undefeated Emu B grade. It may be the 2nd week in August ZC but its our first win against the Emu's since 2005 and only our 2nd in our last 10 or 11 encounters so we'll take it.

Thank god game was at Glenelg because Brighton Oval has finally succumbed to all the rain and is a muddy bog at the moment. Hopefully we can do what we can to make it OK for this week against Cove. Pity about the weather which affected the crowd, especially distinct lack of juniors hanging around after their games, which was probably fair enough. Finals series promises to be a beauty with any of the top 5 being a genuine chance to make the GF. Morphett Vale were still gallant in defeat and it was fairly tight all day. The Bombers did finish the stronger and one of the Bayly's kicked a goal after the siren to make it 9 points so it was more comfortable than the final scores suggest. Thanks for your faith in us Shoe Boy, and my prediction of the Shoes sneaking a finals berth is also looking good. What about the Twisties. They lead 7 goals to zip at one stage and got done.

Cove over Reynella by around 6 or 7 goals in terrible conditions..... Ramsey and Reavill to much for the Reynella defence even in the wet conditions.....Milo smashed by Andrew Platten leaving Milo with one point for the day and Roo Platten running Milo to the other end of the ground a kicking a goal...Ever heard of a 93 goal full forward not only being kept goaless but the full bloke he was standing out scoring him!!!!! A lot of people felt Reynella would be too much for Cove last week so well done to the Cobras... Brighton at Brighton another test the lads no doubt wil enjoy.....

Plenty of under cover area Shoey.... Big Pergola in front of the clubrooms and a big indoor room that you can look straight out over the oval!!! Big crowd there considering the weather!!!! Vicky went well M Reavill and Ramsey best for Cove i think Vick was in there as well.... Best midfielder on the ground although Moore in stages pulled Reynella back into the game...Think on 2 occasions they got back to within 2 goals...however, Cove too good and responded well on both occasions.

Cove are going well but i think Brighton will handle them ok.Dont know if Coves finals record is that good so i hope they can prove us wrong.Emus know how to step up in finals so it would be a bit premature to write them of yet.

Very very impressed with Brightons game on the weekend. I knew with the Glenelg oval they would be in their element and feel that Morphett Vale struggled a bit with their run. Todd Johnstone was fantastic again and feel he will be right in the mix for the Mail Medal.

Also the Aldinga lads have to be happy good on them, 7 to 0 at one stage thats a great turn around. Morphy parks would have been devastated epecially playing for a finals berth you would have thought. Had a good friend watching that game and said there were quite a few heated words in both grades and in the A grade some idiot having a go at the Aldinga coaching staff about "look at the scoreboard you idiots" in the last quarter, all over them talking to their players and he wanted to be a smart ass, then only for the coach to reply about 10 minutes later, hey dickhead what about the scoreboard now. You can only imagine his tail between his legs. Would have been priceless I'd say.

Not in the second week of August.
The second week of August is pretty close to September.
I was one who was firmly convinced the Emus were still the one to beat, but this is now three times a side has found the way to get through Morphett Vale.
Have to agree with you BTP, if you asked me is our squad better than last year when we went undefeated and B's made a prelim, to now, I'd say no, which means that the competition has taken huge steps to bridge the gap and MV now see themselves surrounded by teams which have beaten them this year. Most even finals series in years coming up with Cove clear favourites to win their first Div 1 premiership, i know all clubs have them but some season ending injuries to quality players have hurt us, we have not had to contend with this too much in the past. I'm sure each team in the competition will now truly believe that they can roll the once formidable Emu's when it counts.

Well done to Brighton, i cannot remember a day at the footy where we have come away with only 1 winning team...

A few weeks back on this forum someone was critical of the B grade comp but I reckon theres more blokes running around in B grade at the stronger clubs who in days gone by would have expected to be playing A grade. I know at Brighton we have had 4 to 6 of our best 22 out with injury most weeks and we are covering those injuries better than ever before. Other than 1 or 2 season ending injuries we still stand to get 3 or 4 back into our best 22 from Saturday's game. I do realise this is the same for most of the contenders with MV notably missing Fish, Sampson and Hill (is he gone for season ?).

Emu forum lads, even though Toddy J was outstanding as usual (what about that goal in the 3rd) I thought the difference was down the spine with Brighton winning the key position match ups. I thought Bode did really well against Brooky and proved he is a real talent.

Looks like the shoe boys are the team to squeeze into the eight now. They control there own destiny now with the mighty sharks doing them a favour with morphie pks this week the boys are a huge chance if they can knock them off it will come down to the last game of the year where they play marion at marion the winner will go in the loser looks to next year. Some might say they will only make up the numbers but playing finals with such a young list is great for there development.
Like to also give the sharks a big clap they have pushed a few sides this year and come up short,to finally grab a win is not only good for them but the comp hopefully they can hold on to there current list and recurit a few more with the area growing they could start beening a force again.Maybe hackham should have a look at them and ask for the blue print into how to get your club back on track.good on ya aldinga

I was also there all day and I must firstly say that the above statement is not totally correct.... There are certainly some quality people around the club who are trying to turn things around, but as Bag the Points has said, these are not the same people who have made the bad decisions in the past.... There is a core group of people who are working their backsides off to get this club back to where it should be and once was! But unfortunately, it is tough to find others who can be relied upon to show the same level of dedication

Only one bad decision has been made by the current board and that was only a bad decision in hindsight! Dedication should also be shown by a senior coach, but unfortunately this did not eventuate (as everyone is well aware).... I will agree with your comment about the culture down at Hackham 100%.... It is something that the club is trying their hardest to rectify, but with the attitude of "We only want a kick and a catch with our mates and don't want to push ourselves to become better footballers" it is a constant struggle!

Our numbers to training early in the season were fantastic, and the whole club really looked like it had turned over a new leaf.... We had a new coach, who bought with him a few quality players and the excitement level was really building.... Then it all turned to $hit overnight.... Crisis meetings were held and caretaker coaches were put in place.... The boys rallied and the numbers were even stronger at training..... But unfortunately, without the pressure from reserves players striving to break into the A grade side, the laziness came back!

All year the A grade has played a string of U18's boys every week due to the fact that the majority of our reserves players have no intention of ever pushing for senior selection! Don't get me wrong, it is not all reserves players who have this view! A few of the boys have shown heart and put their hand up to play at the highest level, but nowhere near enough of the others seem to give a toss!

The A grade side has therefore been relatively young all season, apart from the group of leaders who have bled Brown 'n Gold their whole careers (this group is known by most)..... I personally believe that it would only take an influx of maybe 5-10 quality footballers to turn the senior side into a really competitive unit! This would then mean that there would be pressure put on the others to perform to their best and press for selection.... Hopefully in-turn, weeding out the unwanted soft players who can go and get their "Kick and a catch" somewhere else!

Our U16's side has been a competitive side all year and the only reason they may miss out on finals is due to a horrendous run of injuries to KPP.... A lot of these boys will be 18's next year and this can only mean good things for the club, because the attitude and committment to training has been fantastic by the 16's all season!

Anyway, I think I have gone on for long enough.... I just want to say that we have had our knockers over the past few years and we are out to show a few people that Hackham is nowhere near dead and buried yet! [-X

Sounds like morphetvale and reynella are feeling the pinch at the moment just had rumours confirmed from players of both clubs that there are guys that want out asap, looks like the end of the season could be fruitful for a few clubs looking for some quality players... I also think it will be a brighton v cove gf, unless cove choke again...
