Steve Kilbey's Aria Awards Speech

How good was this? I'm not sure if you can see it if you're not on Facebook but I'll post it anyway - the unedited version of The Church's induction into the Aria Hall of Fame. Bizarre but brilliant!

Yeah ZZ, what a speech!!!

I was amazed at how Kilbey spoke. Never seen him like this before.....

I especially loved Marty Willson Piper at the end of the speech saying something like..."We ave spent the last 30 years trying to be mysterious and aloof....well that speech just killed that!!"

Loved also he "dig" at Richard Wilkins hairdo!!!!

Heard it on the ABC the following day. Very funny.
I wonder if they care that Kyle Sandilands hates their music (as stated on Idol last year IIRC)?
No, I don't really, I'm sure they don't.

Ah yes, very entertaining.

For two albums, 2 EP's and six singles, it was one I pondered also. Certainly the song of the same name is iconic, but just wonder about overall output vs overall impact?

Their early stuff was groundbreaking - their later stuff was commercially successful - they are the poster band for ARIA.

Just discovered GB3 has a new album - GB3 is Glen Bennie from Underground Lovers and he's just done an album with Mr Kilbey and the tracks I've heard sound superb. I loved his first 2 albums - just ordered it from http://www.rubberrecords.com.au/

Not sure if I'm singular in this, but tonight's televised "main ceremony" is one of the oddest ARIA Awards I've seen. Presenters appearing from nowhere in corners of the courtyard, with lots of yelling at each other (no podium, no stage). When the award is finally presented, the camera then has to search through the area for said winner, who seems to take a while to be pinned down for the presentation :? . It's like the halfway mark stage of a BBQ, with that "slowly getting more disorganised" feel.

The Arias started off badly when Sia accepted her first pointy award and suggested her manager or someone would enjoy inserting it in their anus later on. And it kind of just got worse after that. As a gauge of how hapless the quality of the production was, one of the hosts, Rebel Wilson, was actually one of the most competent on the night.

Keeping this thread on track, an obviously inebriated Mr Kilbey fitted in with the occasion perfectly with a super-slurred and sadly cringeworthy intro for Album of the Year which almost undid his magesterial performance a few nights prior. "I remember when mushic all sschtarted in 1967 with Sshhergeant Pepper'ss Blartsch Chub blargh Band, before that there were no proper albumsss oh, is time up already?"
