Ambient psy-trance? WTF?

:-q

Hahaha, definitely not most people's cup of tea. Would you prefer some dark psy-trance instead?

All good mate, each to their own.....LL doesn't like most of what I like and I have hardly heard of some of the stuff he and Psuedo and ZZ listen to.

Kasabian - West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum

I think I just bought this because I had a voucher to burn and I was curious. Album has six excellent tracks (IMO) - "Underdog", "Where Did All the Love Go?", "Fast Fuse", "Take Aim", "Vlad the Impaler" and "Fire" - all very worthy of download and repeat play. The rest of the album is kinda dreamy and slow, not necessarily bad, but not really what I was expecting.

Boys Noize - Oi Oi Oi

Okay album, some pretty cool tracks from this German electro maestro, however, I think I prefer his remixes and am probably slightly unimpressed by this album.

Mclusky - The Difference Between Me And You Is That I'm Not On Fire

Pretty solid and gritty indie rock. Wierd in parts and I like it. Last album before the band split, members went on to form Future of the Left.

Just downloaded a couple of old albums to replace my well-worn much-scratched vinyl:

The Birthday Party - Junkyard.
Got three bonus tracks that were never on the vinyl. Don't add much to it IMO.

Tubeway Army (Gary Numan) - Replicas.
This one had six bonus tracks, but I saved a few clams and didn't bother downloading them. Replicas is the perfect synthpop album; why spoil it by tacking on filler tracks after the end?

Excellent stuff. Their gig the other week at the Espy was a HOOT! :D

Picked up Smashing Pumpkins greatest hits today at the $10 cheapie shop. The first time I've heard a lot of this stuff since it come out. Really enjoying it.

Yeah they played here at Jive not that long ago but alas didn't go. That Pumpkins Best of is pretty good especially with the bonus disc, I used to have it but who knows where it is now. You've probably heard it already but their double album Mellon Collie & The Infinite Sadness is a great album.

Just bought over the weekend:

Kasabian - cool, more chilled out that I was expecting, but not in a bad way
Jet - damn good, back to the standard of their first album for sure
Muse - some have bagged it, but I reckon it's pretty good. Not as good as their last couple of albums, but far from a disappointment either

No...not really.Wasn't really a fan either when I first heard them in 1975. ;)

Picked up a copy of new Melbourne band SHE'S THE DRIVER "distorted harmony" recently. Amazing sound for a two piece. Influenced by Jesus and Mary Chain and Sonic Youth but thát's not a bad couple of influences! 8)

In the previous 4 pages of posts I've only vaguely heard of about 5 acts.
I'm either too bloody old and way out of the loop, or you guys are just making these names up !

If EPs dont count then its been a bloody long time and my guess would be when Doc Neeson's had a band called Red Phoenix in the early 2000s.
Mrs Wedgie's bought a few but I tend to only buy EPs of local bands I like and downloading stuff if its by a mainstream artist but hardly even do that these days.

Willie & The Wheel. Willie Nelson teams up with Asleep At The Wheel for an album of old fashioned western swing. Magnificent stuff.
