Favorite "live" songs

Postby CK » Tue Dec 29, 2009 4:22 pm

Was thinking about some of the more noted hits that were live/concert recordings, such as Cheap Trick's "I Want You To Want Me", Jackson Browne's "Stay", anything from Frampton Comes Alive, and Eric Clapton's Unplugged releases of "Layla" and "Tears In Heaven" and curious to know other favorite live tracks here. It's not that common to see live recordings in the charts, although most of these charted.

Honorable mention to one big hit that was touted as "live", but had overdubbed crowd noise/reaction and sound, and was certainly not live, in Elton John's "Bennie And The Jets"

"Sultans of Swing" from Dire Straits' live album Alchemy was superior to the studio version IMO.

Depeche Mode's "Walking In My Shoes" from the live version of Songs Of Faith And Devotion was also a good one.

The Clash "Should I stay or should I go?" Live at Shea stadium beats the original in my opinion.

Big call, although I do love Dire Straits. There's something still intriguing and fresh about the studio version of that song, nearly 32 years later....

First song ever played on SA-FM also - might come in handy at a trivia night one day

Pearl Jam - Porch on an Unplugged DVD I have.

Motley Crue - Dr.Feelgood in the USA in about 95/96 where Tommy Lee's drum kit gets turned upside down with him playing a drum solo in the cage, strapped to his stool.

You must be thinking of George Michael,Robbie Williams, Mariah Carey, Justin Timberlake etc.
NONE of these hacks turned the rock 'n roll upside down.

'Tougher Than the Rest' - Springsteen.
Far superior than the studio cut.
