18 Ecky's Fevolas 4 11 31741 32127 98.80 16

There's a new kid in town and his name is Squeaky, well, Jaryed actually and he looks set to stick around this season after climbing to the top of the table after another impressive win, this time against Hondo. Has Been vacated the top spot after his uniques failed and Ecky's Fevolas gleefully pocketed the points and look set to clamber out of the relegation zone even though they are still stone motherless on the ladder.

Cotch Lickers, Cork in the Ocean and The Rolfs all got the job done this week as they build for the finals but not so Les's Men, The Captain and Q Man. Groover can't blame me this week as I successfully picked Corky to win their match. Piglet Shield teams Underdogs, REBCats and SHARKS all won through and Underdogs and SHARKS remain an outside chance to make the finals with the REBCats breathing a little easier on the relegation front after posting back to back victories.

Alaska got his sums wrong against the Honey Badgers which pretty much ends Longwood Lions' campaign two weeks early. The Badgers' win means their campaign has just begun as wycbloods was well beaten and Buddy Franklin and Peptide Army also failed the flatter.

Two weeks to go with plenty to play for.

Round 16 Preview

Nothing has been decided yet after 15 Rounds of Hogg Premier League but a couple of questions will be closer to be answered this week. Hondo, Q and The Captain are one win away from locking a heap of stragglers out of finals action and the match of the round should determine which side finishes in the top four. With two of the bottom three amongst the highest scorers in the league at the moment, the heat is well and truly on wycbloods, Buddy Franklin, Peptide Army and the REBCats in the relegation Cat fight.

Ben Rolfsburgers vs. Cotch Lickers - MATCH OF THE ROUND
If the Rolfs are going to make the top four this season then this match is one they have to win. They have found it a little tougher to win the minor round matches at this level and with a poor finals record they would need two bites of the Cherry to win the title. Cotch is having a good season this year and they can shut the door on the Rolfs here and lock them away just like the real thing. Score projections suggest a close, high scoring game which is become standard for many Premier League contests in recent weeks. I reckon CoverKing is the real deal this season and I'm tipping him to get the job done and lock up the double chance. My tip - Cotch Lickers.

REBCats vs. Q Before You
Normally it would be a case of a team just outside the eight having more to play for but the quality of the bottom six has the Catters fighting tooth and claw to avoid the drop for the first time in their history. Q has a very good record against the REBCats but this year's Q is not the same awesome unit of seasons past and the REBCats have been trading aggressively to stay up. This one will be a close match but if Qs defence scores well they should have the Cats covered. It won't be a blow out, but Q Before You should keep his good run against the REBCats going. My tip - Q Before You.

Ecky's Fevolas vs. Les's Men
Earlier in the season it would have been the Lezzes by how far but in the last five matches they have only won twice. Eckys meanwhile, are in the same boat but their three losses were all high scoring ones and last week they got back on the Horse and are looking to ride away with the points once again. I'll be hoping like hell that Les salutes as it saves my arse but Ecky's are pretty awesome right now and they'll deservedly get off the bottom, either this week or the next. They should win. My tip - Ecky's Fevolas.

wycbloods vs. SHARKS

This is one of the most important matches in the Premier League this week. wycbloods has been a regular in the Premier League in past seasons but with their percentage they may need to win both of their last two matches in order to avoid the drop. This week's opponent SHARKS got back on the winner's list last week and are now once again in the finals hunt. A win here would keep them alive for another week for a crack at finals action in his first season but a loss to the desperate bloods would end his season. In a massive match I'm selecting to SHARKS to have the edge. My tip - SHARKS.

Longwood Lions vs. Has Been

The Lions threw their season away when they failed to loophole Nick Nat in their big match against the Honey Badgers. Now that finals are off the agenda and relegation looks unlikely, there could be a big CBF from Alaska as far as the remainder of the season goes. If he turns up to play (and remembers to loophole correctly) then he has the scoring power to defeat Has Been but on last week's form and the result that followed, the smart money would be on Has Been. My tip - Has Been.

Cork in the Ocean vs. Honey Badgers

The Honey Badgers emerged from the burrow with two weeks to spare but will need to defeat the reigning premier or risk dropping straight back into the you know what for the last round of the season. The frontrunners of the competition have every right to be concerned whenever they draw Ecky or the Badgers who have saved their best until it's all too late to make the finals...with avoiding the drop the booby prize. After this game Corky will feel a right tit when he learns he has lost to the 16th team on the ladder but Honey Badgers are a monty to win this match. My tip - Honey Badgers.

Hondo SCC vs. Buddy Franklin

Hondo is clinging to his spot in the top eight and Buddy is clinging on to dear life in the relegation battle so expect a couple of nervous coaches in this clash. In recent weeks Hondo's form has been superior but all is not lost for Buddy as the are still ahead of three sides with only two weeks to play. A win against Hondo will go very close to retaining Buddy's spot in premier league next season with a Hondo loss putting is finals spot in jeopardy. I reckon Buddy will make a better account of themselves this week but they'll come up short against Hondo who will be keen to stay in line for higher honours. My tip - Hondo SCC.

Peptide Army vs. Captain Who
The Peptide Army , along with the REBCats are the last survivors of the original Hogg Premier season back in 2007. Peptide Army won that premiership but this week’s game against the Captain is arguably been his biggest Hogg Premier match since then. The Peptide’s controversial tanking policy might have retained trades but it has butchered his percentage. If he can’t get his scoring up then he will go down with six wins. One more win is needed but it won’t be against the Captain. My tip – Captain Who?

Underdogs v Squeakeroos DTC
The Underdogs remain a threat in this competition and it is a threat that should not be dismissed lightly by Squeaky. The view might be pretty good from the top of the ladder but it could be a short lived visit to the summit as the Dogs have the scoring power to knock Squeaky off his perch. The scoring projections threw up some wild numbers that I didn’t believe so I had a peek at the teams and this peek revealed that the Dogs had the better side. My tip – Underdogs.

Apologies to Groover who I selected to win which is good news for Hammo.

Harden up Groover! If you can't beat Hammo you don't deserve to make the eight. He's Horseshit. :D

Thanks to bad luck and bad trading, I've got Three guys in my back line who will be lucky to get 200. Now if Brodie Smith stuns the world and gets 80 points then you can say FFS. Can't see how I can win it.

18 Ecky's Fevolas 5 11 34090 34227 99.60 20

What a round! Nobody deserves to get relegated from this league. We are in a situation now where a team that is ranked number five in scoring for the league and is likely to qualify for Elite possibly being relegated despite winning six matches out of 17. I can't think of a unluckier team than Ecky's Fevolas and they would be dead stiff to go down to Division I next season. Luckily Ecky has a walk up start for a win next week but he is now relying on one of Buddy Franklin, Longwood Lions or Honey Badgers to lose and they need wycbloods to lose as well.

The bloods refuse to go quietly into the night too as they smashed the SHARKS who have shown all year they can get just about any score from 2000 to 2500. wycbloods big problem is that percentage, which is the worst in the league. They need to win one more match than Buddy, Honey Badgers and the Longwood Lions to stay up. The teams on seven wins have qualified for Hogg Premier next season but probably won't make the eight despite the best, or is that the worst efforts of Les's Men, Hondo SCC, Captain Who? and Q Before you. These teams have all had their plans rewritten by teams desperate to avoid relegation.

The big mover this week was Ben Rolfsburgers. The league's top scorer scored a convincing win over the in-form Cotch Lickers in the match of the day to move into the top four. Squeakeroos continue to defy my dodgy tipping and Has Been are sitting pretty in second spot. What a final round is coming up boys and girl.

Round 17 Preview

This is it boyos. The last round and the conclusion of what has been a desperate battle to avoid relegation. Everyone involved in it has caused plenty of upsets of late which leaves the door open for teams such as Q Before You and Underdogs to claim a late finals berth.

Cork in the Ocean vs. Has Been MATCH OF THE ROUND

The match of the round is a no holds barred square off between the reigning premier and a team with one eye very much on the prize. Both sides have Ablett and Ffye so it's down to trades or lack of that decides this. Has Been has the chance to win this match and stamp some authority on the competition here. He's a very good chance to go on win this year I reckon. My tip - Has Been.

REBCats vs. Eckys Fevolas

For the last three games the REBCats have come from behind to win in the last game but that won't happen this week. I've burnt all my tickets and I'm a sitting duck for Ecky who will absolutely smash me. For those trying to avoid relegation and relying on a REBCats win, all I can say is you better win your own match. Ecky by plenty. My tip - Eckys Fevolas.

wycbloods vs. Q Before You

So who has the greater desire, the team trying to make the finals or the team trying to stay up? I'd say wycbloods would be the hungrier as I know he doesn't mind a feed ha ha. I also know that Q won't be washing his beard tonight. He did so last week then bristled when he forgot to put in Hodge. Thanks for that Q! wycbloods could win this game and still go down and he doesn't have Ablett so that's one less giant sized hole to fill. Having said that I reckon Q will get it right this week after last week's ballsup and make a last ditch bid to make the eight. My tip - Q Before You

Longwood Lions vs. Les's Men

Les's Men should make the eight and Longwood Lions with that healthy percentage should avoid the drop so this match has a bit less riding on it than some others. The Lezzes form has dropped off a little bit in recent weeks and you could say the same about the Lions but the Lions is the only team in the league that didn't have Fyfe so because he has one less problem to worry about I'm selecting Alaska to win this one. My tip - Longwood Lions.

Ben Rolfsburgers vs. SHARKS

Two teams that wycbloods will be anxiously watching are Peptide Army and the SHARKS. Both have a percentage that might be within reach if wycbloods can record a big enough win over Q. The SHARKS face a tough last round opponent in the Rolfs this week with both sides missing Ablett and Ffye. I reckon Rolfs has been more solid all year and they should get the points here and keep the bloods in it right to the end. My tip - Ben Rolfsburgers.

Hondo SCC vs. Cotch Lickers

These two sides have built up an awesome rivalry over the years and CoverKing has a real chance to knock Hondo out of this year's premiership race a week early if he can get the chocolates here. I've been bullish on the Cotch Lickers for a couple of weeks now but their form has dropped off slightly and Hondo like usual isn't going anywhere without a fight. In what could be a real nailbiter I'm going to give CoverKing another chance and tip him again in what should be a high scoring match. Ricky Henderson, really?? My tip - Cotch Lickers.

Peptide Army vs. Honey Badgers

The fortunes of the Peptide Army mirror those of my REBCats and the Honey Badgers are following the same script as Ecky's Fevolas. It stands to reason then that the Army is about to be slaughtered on the battlefield in this last round. Peptide Army are in even more trouble than me as he has the usual suspects out PLUS Nick Riewoldt. Even if Buddy can win wycbloods will be watching with glee if he can get over Q because Hammo will be the one that goes down. My tip - Honey Badgers.

Underdogs vs. Buddy Franklin

I had all but written off Buddy Franklin in recent weeks but he can avoid relegation by winning this 50/50 match. Buddy hasn't had the same scoring patterns as Underdogs this year but every time Gibbo looks set to crack into the top eight she drops the big one. I'm thinking Buddy will get very close here but Underdogs will have one eye on the top eight and should just get the job done here. My tip - Underdogs.

Squeakeroos DTC vs. Captain Who?

Squeaky is enjoying the view from up there and he must be enjoying himself as normally by this time of the season he's congratulating himself on avoid the drop for another year. Meanwhile, the poor old Captain can't get going as soon as I tip him. It's like when Pup wins the toss on a greentop, things go wrong! Squeaky has the Fyfe Ablett thing happening for him but the Captain doesn't have Ablett. Who he does have though is Devon Smith so whenever you have to replace a cheaper player the options just aren't there. So in a perverse kind of way Squeaky having Ablett out is an advantage as it frees up cash to get just about anyone. My tip - Squeakeroos DTC.

So what happens then?

Here is the ladder based on my selections

1. Has Been 52
2. Squeakeroos DTC 48
3. Cotch Lickers 44
4. Ben Rolfsburgers 44
5. Cork in the Ocean 40
6. Captain Who? 36
7. Q Before You 36
8. Les's Men 36

9. Hondo SCC 32
10. Underdogs 32
11. Longwood Lions 28
12. Honey Badgers 28
13. REBCats 28
14. SHARKS 28
15. Peptide Army 28
16. Ekcys Fevolas 24

17. Buddy Franklin 24

Remember that Groover only loses when I tip him so he wins this week. ;)
