Chicken Twisties are back on top of the pack in Hogg Premier this week after bottom placed Hondo defeated top placed Hips Don’t Lie in a big upset in Round 5. The Hippys have been spoiling for a loss for several weeks as they are not one of the league’s big scorers but you wouldn’t have though the struggling Hondo would be the side to burst their bubble.

All of a sudden the Hippys have been shaken with Ecky, Sharks and Has Been all swarming around them and outscoring them most weeks. Ecky has been very solid so far this season and the Fevs are having their best season in Hogg Premier and look a genuine threat as they look to be the main threat to the Twisties who are scoring very well and winning matches regularly. Another team to enjoy a Premier League best season is the Sharks who, as the 18th seed was not expected to come out as strongly as he has. The Golden Greek is a Port man so like his team the Sharks are flying. I can state from sad experience that Has Been are the genuine article after they flogged my REBCats this week. Yes, I had a donut but even if Brander had played I would still have been well beaten.

There are a couple of teams mid table who look like they might be looking good in a month and maybe a couple that won’t be. Most vulnerable for me in the middle is Richo who, a year after scoring well and coming up short, appears to be now scoring **** all and probably going to end up the same. Perhaps they are living up to the old Ninthmond model. Delicious also looks staler than he has ever been and even FISH is struggling to reach 2000 these days although he wasn’t on his own this week. Inner Sanctum look to be going ok as is Q as they won crucial games against Delicious FISH. See what I did there!

Down the arse end Hondo’s win was manna from Heaven while poor old Wadey still hasn’t broken his Premier League duck. It is probably a great time to point out that no promoted Divvy I side has gone straight back down so like Port in 2007, there’s history there in the making! The Captain scored a very important win over Poon and I reckon the Captain is still a threat this season but the jury is out on last year’s beaten Grand Finalist Poony. There was a slight rebound in form for Benny Rolfs but no W this week either and the reigning premier is looking pretty sorry down there in 17th spot.

A tough year for some top sides this season!

18 Wadey's Warriors 0 6 11902 12503 95.19 0

Last year's grand finalists are continuing with their underwhelming start to the season as both of them were rolled again in dismal round 6 performances. Benny Rolfs appears to have abandoned ship in the ultimate premiership hangover and unless the captain appears on the bridge once more then they are a monty to be relegated from the league this season. Sometimes things don't go that much better when you do look at your team. Poon's masterstroke of replacing Rowell with the hit and miss Gaff was baffling. Gaff was duly tagged back to the stoneage and Poony was well beaten in what was a winnable match. Hondo laughed all the way and banked four points.

There were a couple of massive matches on the weekend. The Sharks saluted over Has Been who are 4-2 and somehow out of the eight. Ecky's form has been very good this season but it came unraveled a bit against Inner Sanctum who remained in the hunt at 4-2. Another big result was Q struggling over Twisties. Two top teams who had a shocker but one of them had to win. Not bad when you put in a shocker and beat one of your main rivals.

A couple of slow starters in my REBCats and their Captain managed to get a bit of momentum after Delicious did almost everything they could to hand me the match but my mob of plodders seem to do whatever they could to hand the game right back to valleys. On Sunday I'm cucumber boy, as in cool as..then Macca came out and made me sweat....like most coaches I still have some bunnies to cull. Spare a thought for Wadey who has not managed to get rid of the Burger ring out of the W column....don't worry Wadey, Poony is coming up soon mate so you'll launch the vessel then I'm sure.

18 Wadey's Warriors 0 7 14112 15006 94.04 0

The scores were back to something a bit more respectable this week but the big news of the round was the massive 2503 racked up by the Captain who vaulted into the top eight as a result. Spare a though for winless Wadey who scored a handy 2210 but lost by nearly three hundred points. Welcome to the NFL rookie. The Captain has had a slowish start to the season but in recent weeks they have been sneakily compiling some handy scores prior to unleashing their round 7 thunderbolt.

Hips Dont Lie are travelling pretty smoothly at the moment and they scored handily as well. Hippys had a brilliant high scoring win against Has Been who are dead stiff to be out of the eight on the back of that result. The standard of the league really lifted this week and Has Been was one of the unlucky ones. The recent good form of Ecky and the Sharks appear to have been disrupted as Delicious and Richo managed to record vital victories. Another team to get some relief was Mediocre at Best who recorded a solid win over battling Poon who has just one win in seven matches. Hondo and REBCats have managed to turn their season around in recent weeks but Roosters and Inner Sanctum are two newer Premier League sides who have done it a bit better this year and are continuing on with some fine form.

FISH has been a bit down but the disaster of the round was the calamity that afflicted the Twisties who gave up a percentage booster to the REBCats who snaffled Twisties' spot in the eight. Wadey and Poon's woes have been documented but the reigning premier is in a tight spot although they did appear to begin the long road back to Premier League redemption. Teams who have yet to play Benny Rolfs won't welcome a return to form from the champions....have they turned the corner? Watch this space as all hell is about to break loose in SuperCoach land.

18 Ben Rolfsburgers 1 7 15445 16687 92.56 4

In a season of mixed fortunes for the promoted sides, promoted Roosters and Hips Don't Lie have snuck a game clear of the chasing pack with six wins and two losses. The Roosters are a very strong combination and look the stronger of the two, although the lower scoring Hips Don't Lie combination have proven to be hard to tackle so far this season. In a season where the established teams have struggled, Captain Who has stood out. At this point of the season the Captain is my choice for the premiership although I don't think @Groover would thank me for tipping him given my tipping record. The Captain has been outscoring most teams week in week out and currently one of the few Premier League sides pulling their weight being the number three ranked team in the Hogg.

Teams on 5-3 that aren't quite as scary as the Captain include Q, Inner Sanctum, Chicken Twisties and Sharks. The Sharks are having their best season but a low scoring outing last week was what was predicted of the Sharks pre-season so there is plenty of time yet for the Golden Greek to throw away his excellent start to the season. Chicken Twisties was the early frontrunner but recent weeks has seen the twisties go a bit stale. Q has been solid without being brilliant and a continuation of this solid form should see Q in the finals this season. Inner Sanctum has been going well but a slip up last week was reminiscent of their 2019 form which was underwhelming.

It seems like just about everyone is 4-4 and fighting it out for three spots in an absolute logjam in the middle of the table. Toss a coin just about to try and figure out who makes the eight this year. Richo Richo is in eighth spot this year but I can't have Richo in the eight this year, he just doesn't score enough. A lot would need to change if Richo was to hang on to his spot on the ladder. Meanwhile teams such as Delicious, Has Been, Hondo, REBCats and Eckys Fevolas all hovering. Nope. No way @CoverKing!

Season 2020 has seen the 2019 kings turn into also-rans. Last year's grand finalists Poon and Benny Rolfs have been but a shadow of their former selves with Benny Rolf looking to be AWOL and thus putting up their hand to be relegated to Division I or out of the Hogg next season. As for Poony, well, he has been trying hard but just sucks balls this season. Poon got the invaluable win against Benny Rolfs but right now he is in a life or death struggle with Wadeys Warriors who are off to a flyer in their round nine match. The loser of that match is going to find it tough to escape the drop Wadey started his Hogg Premier career with seven straight losses but they have righted the ship and the points are starting to flow. Wadey won't be in the finals but he will be a massive bannana skin to navigate your way past as @hambone is currently finding out. Perhaps the loser of that round nine match isn't for the drop as there is another candidate, Mediocre at Best who has lived up to their name a bit over the past two seasons. Medicore's handy percentage could become a factor in a few weeks, especially if it is Wadey who is the other side under seige...if it's Poony look out.
