Herb got off to a flyer in Division I when they took advantage of traditional slow starters wycbloods round one no-show. In what will be a highly competitive league you have to make every post a winner and until bloods wakes up there is a percentage builder on offer as they are scoring at Divvy V levels at the moment. A couple of teams that had been meandering along in the pre-season sprung into life once the matches began as Eddieslittleindians and GETOUTOMYWAY fired up with big wins in the season opener. 2024 straggler Slothy is back to his 2023 form and they are currently the number one ranked team in the Hogg and they made light work of the Dukes who put in a decent shift themselves. Dukes will be spewing they got rolled with a score that would have beaten most Hogg teams. PorterGuns got the big win against highly rated ZedForce while Magpie Mafia won the cripple fight against a surprising fragile Petracca’s Picnic. Chops Clots, Harryhawks, and Jays Jocks all on the winner’s list but right now you’d be keen on facing wycbloods or the Picnic early doors.

Minor round king Eddieslittleindians are on top of the ladder already after they made light work of Magpie Mafia this week. There are six unbeaten sides hoping to sneak away from the pack with Herbs’N’Spices looking the big improver after Herb barely made a mark last season in his first year in Divvy I. The whole league got a rankings lift when a couple of the stragglers Petracca’s Picnic and wycbloods joined the SC world and finally scored some points. Picnic more than a little unlucky not to get a win against an unsually misfiring ZedForce.

There were a few upsets and near things in Division I in Round 4 as a few teams that missed the starting gun finally got their house in order. The biggest result was when Petracca’s Picnic pulled an insane 2614 to easily defeat the previously unbeaten PorterGuns, who were stiff as to lose by 164 points after posting 2450. Not really an upset I guess but ZedForce also ended an unbeaten run as Herbs’N’Spices copped their first L. Jims TigerRoos managed to knock off Chops Clots for the third of the ‘first loss’ trifecta. The Cowpokes went within one free kick of knocking off Jays Jocks and Eddieslittleindians did not have all their own way against battlers Coro Critters. Most of the sides are looking competitive but the top teams are already setting a pace. The bye this year looks to be former Premier league outfit wycbloods who look a mile off it so far this season.

The top teams already appear to be sprinting away from the pack after just five rounds and there were some significant results last weekend. In the match of the round two league heavyweights in The Dukes and ZedForce squared up with Zed taking the points and leapfrogging The high scoring Dukes on the table. Another high scoring team, Eddieslittleindians copped a defeat thanks to the Brisbane backline playing kick to kick with Dane Zorko. The Zork’s elite junking helped get PorterGuns over the line in that one. In another huge clash Slothy got the job done over previously unbeaten Jays Jocks but the Jocks remain on top thanks to their excellent defensive record ha ha. Chops Clots are flying high after taking out a straggler in Magpie Mafia and Harryshawks are not after Jims TigerRoos got the upset with the Hawks out of the eight. Chasing the top eight is Petracca’s Picnic who are suddenly scoring very well and they were far to good for GETOUT. Richo beat his brother as wycbloods are dragging the chain yet again. There’s an Owen for the Critters and Crowmag as well so the battle for relegation might be just as tight as the premiership race this year.

There is a fair gap between the haves and the have nots in this league with the bottom six sides not really invited to the party this year. This means that when you are one of the contenders playing one of these bottom six teams you simply must win the match. The sin of dropping a match against the bottom six was committed by The Dukes who are one of the heaviest scoring teams in the division. Coro Critters broke through for an unlikely win which dumped the Dukes out of the top eight with Harryshawks scampering in after they narrowly avoided the same fate against Magpie Mafia. A couple of the other contenders got done but it’s not so bad when you are losing to a good side. Petracca’s Picnic’s comeback was stalled as Eddieslittleindians defended their top eight spot while ZedForce marched into the top four at the expense of Chops Clots on the back of a solid victory. In form PorterGuns cleaned up Herbie to take his top four spot while Slothy and Jays Jocks were untroubled in their big wins. Wycbloods looks a monty for the drop but who goes down with the bloods is a long way from decided. Bloods themselves could still survive but their scoring has been putrid this season and the band aid needs to be applied soon. Crowmag are also struggling with a bagel in the W column but seem to be about a hundred points better off than the bloods at this stage.

The Jocks haven’t hit rock bottom but the have dropped after a powerful ZedForce performance against the Hawks saw them leapfrog the rest to lead the league after seven rounds. Slothy held on to second by the skin of his teeth with a two-point win over the unlucky Cowpokes who are outside of the top eight and could have done with the win. Eddieslittleindians have steadied while The Dukes and Petracca’s Picnic are in the top eight with Picnic getting in for the first time after a slow start to the season. The blood brothers, wycbloods and Richo Richo both had excellent wins this week while Jims TigerRoos are in their best form for years as they threaten the top eight in Division I this season. Coro Critters have risen from the dead winning their second straight win after five Ls to start the year. On the downlow Clots and Hawks are out of the eight and Magpie Mafia and GETOUT are way down. Wycbloods win means that there is change at the bottom as well as the top with Crowmag now the only side with a bagel in the W column.

Herb has announced himself as a genuine Division I contender with a sensational victory of the Indians which consigned them to the silver spud award for the round in their high scoring clash. To rack up 2497 in a week where there was nationwide carnage and get rolled is a boner for Eddie who must be wondering which black cat he kicked when he walked under that ladder. Jimbo got amongst the points too in his best ever Divvy I season and they went into the top eight at the expense of Picnic who were no match for the consistent Dukes. Slothy copped an upset loss to GETOUT while the Jocks did not as they shot down the Mafia. Bloods and Crowmag got rolled again as they firmed in the race for Division II next season while Zed is going from strength to strength and quiet achiever PorterGuns continues to fly under the radar a bit even though they are in the top four.

Eddieslittleindians have a proud minor round record in Division I but earlier this season that looked to be under threat with a few early losses. Fast forward to Round 10 and the Indians are back after they claimed their latest top eight scalp Chops Clots in a high scoring nailbiter which consolidated the Indians’ top four spot. There are a few teams having their best ever season in Division I as ZedForce and PorterGuns are both slightly above previous high water marks. The big improver, perhaps in the whole Hogg is Jims TigerRoos. Jimmy and the Boys are usually battling away in the bottom half of the ladder but they have been on fire of late. A solid win over a slipping Slothy last week and the TigerRoos are looking like qualifying the finals which is rarified air for them at this level. The quality of this league is underlined when a team as good as The Dukes is out of the top eight. The Dukes were pretty stiff to get rolled by fellow contender Herbs’N’Spices (yet another team at personal best levels) in a result which keeps the Dukes out in the cold for another week. Picnic bounced back with a vital win over Harryshawks while Coro Critters have resurrected their season with some decent form in the last few weeks. GETOUT and Mafia managed to grab a vital four points with things looking a bit grim for Crowmag who are stone motherless last with a mother of a Owen.

The youngster Harryshawks got the biggest scalp of his career to date with a sensational victory over an underperforming Eddieslittleindians who really phoned it in this bye round. Eddie’s loss means they are out of the top four as an improving Herbs’N’Spices barged their way in. He’s got a fair side Herb so I reckon he will stay there as well so Eddie will be looking at Jims TigerRoos as the possible weak link in order to get that top four spot back. ZedForce are looking pretty suave this year and PorterGuns are going pretty well too so no joy there for Eddie. Slothy has righted the ship after a dodgy period but Jays Jocks had a slip up that sees them in the bottom half of the eight. Coro Critters have now won four of the last five and have joined the chasing pack and Richo Richo carded their best win of the season when they put the kibosh on the Picnic. In the basement the bottom three look set to battle the drop with poor old Crowmag missing out on their first win of the season by a mere 8 points to the Critters. Wycbloods had a mare while Magpie Mafia was not in the hunt against Slothy.

The top three have snuck away a bit as Herb had a hiccup and the Indians were off the reservation this week. Jays Jocks pounded stragglers Petracca’s Picnic to get back amongst the business while Slothy’s slump continued for another week. With many top sides having a bit of a wobble in recent weeks, Harryshawks have swooped and look set to settle in the top eight nest. Dukes are hanging around like a bad smell but in recent weeks the rising star appears to be Richo Richo who are once again the man after a second successive high scoring week. Is Richo back? In struggletown poor old Crowmag got rolled again and this was despite scoring a respectable 2159 which proves you don’t need to be dead to be stiff. PorterGuns showed no mercy so the Burger Ring remains for Crowmag. Wycbloods showed a bit of spirit to clean up Magpie Mafia and in an added bonus Picnic, GETOUT and more importantly Critters all got done so the bloods aren’t quite out the door just yet.

In a season where many giants have slumbered, the latest slumbering giant who has woken up is Slothy who has arked up and spanked highly rated PorterGuns to climb right back into contention just in the nick of time. Zed and Jocks got vital wins in a round where many of the top sides stumbled to take advantage. Not a great round for TigerRoos, Harry or Herb but the big shock is that perennial Div I power team Eddie is closer to the relegation zone than he is the top four right now. Chops Clots, Cowpokes and The Dukes earned pivotal wins while it was a week to forget for Richo, Picnic the Critters and GETOUT. Wycbloods has shown some fighting qualities of late but was frustrated with Mafia’s win which keeps bloods in the drop zone. Mafia flogged GETOUT which is a result that has the Divvy I debutant looking over his shoulder at the inform Mafia and now, bloods. Crowmag finally got his well-deserved first win on the board but he’s down next year so only playing for pride Crowmag. It will be interesting to see who goes down with him. Can bloods survive and can Eddieslittleindians pull their finger out in time and reclaim their usual top eight spot?

Scores were up this week and with one round to go until finals Zed’s minor premiership is under threat after Zed copped an upset loss to GETOUT and PorterGuns went large to sink the TigerRoos. Despite the underwhelming effort by Jimbo it’s job done so far this season as his mob has earned the double chance which is uncharted territory for this side at this level. Jays Jocks have been up for most of the year and they’ve earned the double chance alongside competition heavyweights Porters and Zed. Slothy will play finals and Dukes should qualify but a poor percentage for Harry leaves him vulnerable to the pack of teams on eight wins. Richo will start favourite against GETOUT in the last round and of the chasing pack the team most likely for the percentage bump will be perennial finalists Eddiesindians who should flog relegation bound wycbloods this week. It’s for this reason that Petracca’s Picnic will not make finals with that draw against Slothy being very costly the other week. Cowpokes have been in excellent form and start a slight favourite against Dukes and if he wins that he could end up taking Harry’s spot in the finals as he has a tough match up against Jays Jocks in the last match. The relegation battle is over and it will be wycbloods who go down with Cromag, who is playing Div I standard to late to retain his stripes. Both will be off to Divvy II next season. Who goes up? Liking the top two at the moment but a lot of good teams lining up for a crack at Premier League next month.

It was a massive week of scoring in SuperCoach last weekend but it looks like Divvy I didn’t really get the memo. Harry surely did as they clinched their finals place with a career best 2810 and a smashing over top four contender Jays Jocks. Slothy’s withering late season run continued with a high quality win over Herb that ended the Spicer’s season even though he carded a decent score for the week. Jims TigerRoos limped into the finals after a limp effort against Picnic who missed the top eight that weekend when scaling turned a one point win against Slothy into a draw. Ouch In a major surprise, Eddieslittleindians will be spectating this August after being a dominant side at this level during the minor round for the past four or five seasons. Certainly an off year for Maysi this year has been young Jedi. The Cowpokes were the big winner as they snaffled eighth spot as Richo had a last round flop that summed up the majority of his season with his comeback all for nought and an unflattering 11th on the table. Looking to finals next week and I reckon Zed smashes Jimbo to earn the week off and I’m liking Porties just to knock off Jays Jocks in what will be a much closer game. Cowpokes won’t be in the same suburb as Slothy in their knockout and I’m tipping the Dukes to turn around last week’s results by beating Harryshawks and ending their year. Wycbloods and Crowmag went down earlier in the season but it’s this week we wave goodbye to them as they head to Divvy II next season. Magpie Mafia did well enough to stay up and showed he belongs at this level with an impressive win over PorterGuns in the last round.

ZedForce and PorterGuns have emerged from the first week of finals as hot favourites to be promoted to Hogg Premier League next season after convincing displays in the Division I Qualifying Finals. Porters racked up the (new) third highest Hogg score of all time to easily eclipse Jay’s Jocks while ZedForce was almost as good when they accounted for Jimbo who at least put in an improved showing on recent weeks. Cowpokes looked the pick to go straight out but they upset hot favourite Slothy and that result is a real boost to Zed and Porties as the Slothman has the potential for heavy scoring. While the Cows are clearly no easybeats they’ve done the rest of the league a good turn with that result. The Dukes and Harry (sounds like a tv show) fought out a classic final and when the dust cleared the Duke got the chocolates and it was bye bye Hawks. Let’s hope we get to repeat that when the real Elimination finals roll around. A solid year by Harry but Duke had a ball and was too good. I reckon the winners of the knockout finals can double up and send out Jay and Jimbo in straight sets.

It was straight sets city in Division I as both Jimbo and Jay dropped both finals to exit the finals race. Cowpokes have come from 8th and are now one game short of qualifying for the Premier League next season so that would be a mighty comeback seeing as they didn’t even look like making the top eight at one stage. Before they get there though they’ve got to get by PorterGuns first who racked up a massive score in his first final. The Dukes have always looked likely in this league and it’s not the first time the Duke boy has gone deep into the finals. This time he’s doing it with winning form so it's been a brilliant season from the Dukester. Standing in his way though is the formidable ZedForce who has been the best team in the league this season. If the Duke wins this week he has well and truly earned his Premier League stripes. I reckon the favourites get up with PorterGuns and ZedForce going up to Premier League next season.

The favourites in both Division I Preliminary Finals fluffed their lines and it is The Dukes and Cowpokes who have been promoted into the Premier League next season. While it's possible to jump leagues if you have a high scoring year you can't jump Divvy I, the only to get into Premier is to win the Prelim and The Dukes and Cowpokes have done just that. Both of these teams looked likely to miss the eight at one stage of the year so it's been a great effort to win the matches that matter against some top opposition as well. That top opposition includes ZedForce who have had a cracking year and did not fail this weekend but fell an agonising eight points short of Premier League qualification. Man, that one's got to hurt. PorterGuns have had their best year in DIvvy I as well and they missed out by 35 points so it's back to the drawing board for my Uncle Jasper as well.

In the Grand Final The Dukes look too strong but I've been saying the Cowpokes have been gone for four weeks now so I'm sure the pokes won't mind me selecting The Dukes to win this flag. Either side would be a worthy winner but for me it is The Dukes who will have the last laugh. They just seem to have the superior fire power.

Congratulations to the Division I champions The Dukes, coached by @Tight Lines. This grand final was ultimately decided after Cowpokes made a rookie error in putting the captaincy on a bloke who had just landed a multi-million dollar deal the week before. Nas was nowhere near it against the Giants while Dukes' skipper Bont was in everything as he vainly tried to get his Dogs over the line. The Dukes looked the more credentialed side over the course of the year but you just couldn't write off the Pokes who gave the premiership a mighty shake from eighth spot throughout the finals before coming up short. See you blokes in Premier League in 2026!
