Gombau - How does he keep his job

Postby Rik E Boy » Sat Nov 23, 2013 10:41 pm

What a shit game plan. Defenders running around the circle, Galekovic outside of his box doing pissant little kicks to covered backman that have to go straight back to him. Gone is last years excellent launches from the back due to Eugene's excellent distribution. Defensively the Reds are a bloody shambles and we look good things for the spoon at the moment. He's ******* horseshit!

I think the trouble is our defenders are rubbish and have been for years. We keep recruiting mids when we should of been addressing our number 1 weakness. Thought we played them off the park in patches but the final pass or shot let us down. Our defense is woeful, Boogaard and Malik are park footballers at best and shouldnt even be in the squad

Malik is playing out of position, he is not a centre half... and calling Boogaard a park footballer is unfair to us park footballers.

We have a perfectly good (well good enough) centre half in Golec who can't get a game.

I still reckon that once the defence is sorted out (in about 2025) we will be much stronger. We do need an out and out striker...

No doubt we need a striker, i saw enough last week to see United are improving & don't forget we played the TOP TEAM.
I'm confident in the coach & also the players in turning their form around.

Yes it has, its amazing how quick people are to lay the boots into a new coach thats introducing a new game plan which takes a bit of time to muster.

I have a theory that it took the players a few months to understand him.
I know the only thing he's said that I understood was "Your goalkeeper son is shit".

Unbeaten in last 6 at home, another clean sheet and up to 3rd on the table.
Pep has been a revelation, was always going to take time for a side to adapt to a completely differant style. The best thing is he has the side playing as a team not a fractured bunch of individuals that we have in the past

Well as usual it would seem that those who are fickle tend to show there lack of knowledge of sport. At the first sign of disharmony or lack of success they blow there trumpet crying out for change. When will they learn that "patients is a virtue" success in sport is due to hard work , belief , comrardery discipline , planning & process without one of these there will be no success
I congratulate josef for his work so far ,allthough the job is nowhere near done he shows us that you must believe in your plans
I hope united keep their form going & lets not jump ship if they lose every now & then

Is it time to Bump this thread yet?
Pep said from the start that the results wouldnt reflect the change for atleast a season.
Got the side playing really good football but more importantly they dont look as mentally week as in previous seasons. He has been a breath of fresh air, the players love him and there is a team harmony as never seen at the club. Would love him to take over the Socceroos and get rid of that dud Ange

Dud Ange lol

Anges record speaks for itself.

Plus he is putting himself second and Australian soccer first by blooding these young guys in the socceroos which is so badly needed when many other managers including pep would put there reputation and ambitions of moving higher up first

Ange's record speaks for itself at A-League level for sure but has never done anything overseas where it matters. Ive always be of the view that the Socceroo coach should not be Australian and should have experience in top leagues overseas. I will always maintain he was the wrong man and just the cheap option when others could of been pursued, guess we will find out but a poor Asian Cup and I dont think he will be there by the WC qualies. Just my opinion but Ange should have gone overseas for atleast 2-3 years and then come back to the National side. We expect our players to head overseas to further their careers and skills yet the coach doesnt have to, just doesnt make sense IMO
