fabregas, RVP both unknowns until they blossomed

Yes true both were unknowns.
I was just thinking Schmeichel, Solskjaer, Ronaldo and Nani are a few that were unknowns and cost us stuff all, can probably throw in Cantona aswell who cost us close to nothing.
3 of those guys made the EPL all time team.
Reckon its a tight one.
Well and truly have you covered on the kids though :)

Just a few of the Manchester youth...

Manchester United are lining up a £30 million bid for Sao Paulo starlet Lucas Moura in the midst of interest from Serie A giants Inter Milan, according to the Daily Mail.

Lucas Moura has been linked with several of Europe’s top clubs, including Chelsea, Real Madrid and the aforementioned Inter Milan.

Chelsea reportedly had a £32 million bid for the playmaker rejected by Sao Paulo, and have now agreed a deal with Brazil international Oscar. Both Lucas Moura and Oscar will represent Brazil at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.

Now that Chelsea are seemingly out of the picture as they say, United are the favorites to land the 19-year-old Brazilian.

Previous suitors Real Madrid have since turned their attention to Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Luka Modric, while Inter Milan are rumoured to up their £15 million winter bid for the teenager to around £20 million sometime this week.

Subsequently, Manchester United, who are preparing a bid of £30 million, are probably the front-runners to sign Lucas Moura.

In addition, the Brazilian ace is fully aware of the interest he is drawing from abroad.

“You never know what can happen,” said Lucas. “I don’t have a crazy desire to leave but, when the time comes, I will speak with my family and decide what is best for my future.

“When I go on the internet I see Inter, Real Madrid and I don’t know who else, wanting to come for me with a truck load of money.

“Of course I think about it, but I can’t let it go to my head. I’m very calm and down to earth about it. My job is to play football so that these clubs continue to be interested.”

Baines nears £16m move to Manchester United

Everton left-back Leighton Baines is close to completing a £16m to English Premier League runners-up Manchester United, the Daily Star understands.

The England international could possibly be the heir apparent to Patrice Evra, who turned 31 earlier this year.

Baines, 27, bagged four goals and two assists for Everton in 33 league starts last season. His best season as a professional footballer came in 2010-11, when he tallied five goals and 11 assists in 38 league matches for the Toffees.

The former Wigan Athletic defender has been tipped to become Sir Alex Ferguson’s third summer signing later this week.

The Scottish boss has already signed Nick Powell (Crewe Alexandra F.C.) and Shinji Kagawa (Borussia Dortmund) this summer
