Former Arsenal player and manager George Graham:

“Whether I like it or not, the club are quite happy to finish in the top four.

“They have been doing that for the last 15 or 16 years. That seems to be the objective.

“Let’s be honest, they are not serious challengers for the Premier League. So finishing in the top four, I think the club are quite happy with that.

“I don’t think Arsenal are ever going to compete with Manchester City, Chelsea and Manchester United.

“I thought they could have competed with United because they don’t spend the money the other two do.

“But Arsenal are not going to compete with them either.

“They have got a structure at the club on transfers and wages.
They are very strict on those.

“They have more or less said to fans that is the way they are going to run the club.

“They can still pick up cups and qualify for Europe. But will they win the Premier League title again? I can’t see it.”

Probably close to the mark there.
I said the same a couple of years back
Under the current system there will be only 3 clubs able to win the league over the next 10-15 years atleast.
Arsenal have promised to spend £50m in January but City and Chelsea are able to spend that at every transfer window
The funniest quote I read all week was the Bradford captain saying that Torquay put up more of a fight on the weekend than what Arsenal did in the cup

still, fans will riot, when the continual just finishing 4th or 3rd, and go oout in the quarter finals of the champ league. Who wants to follow a football club that is not in it to win it so to speak..

To be fair to your club Bully, they're kinda damned if they do and damned if they don't.

To be a realistic chance, they're going to have to overspend and that jeopardises their future.

Whilst it would be a fair way off, once they pay their stadium off they should be well placed to increase their transfer funds.

Still wont be enough to compete with City or Chelsea.
City announced they lost nearly £100m last season but were happy because they lost over £200m the year before.
Shiek Monsour is not concerned and will pump in whatever it takes.
Even United are struggling to keep up, Glazer has promised up to £50 per season on transfers but that is just a drop in the ocean for City.

Liverpool, Spurs, Everton etc are all clubs with a decent supporter base who have just come to expect their side isnt in the running for the league. True supporters will always stick by there side.
You guys still attract huge crowds and will do forever even though you havnt won a trophy for ages.

I think the owners/managers of every club in England outside of the Top 3 would be reading and re-reading "Moneyball" lol

That's a pretty significant part of Moneyball .. All clubs not owned by Billionairres (with the exception of Man U who are the biggest club in the world .. **** that was tough to write), need to maximise the profits on players, then spend that money wisely.

Would be frustrating for the Hammers, that place has been like a factory over the years producing quality players that are then sold to richer clubs.

It's enough to put you of the premier league altogether all that hard work u put in to a player to watch them disappear, while your clubs only highlight for the year is knocking of a top four side

Unfortunately its just the nature of the beast.
What about all the time the lower league clubs put into their players only to get taken by a club in a higher Div.
Good players always end up at strong clubs.

jack wilshere signs a five year contract to stay at Arsenal.

The proves his dedication to the club and is loyal. Unlike Robin van pussy, and Money bags Nasri, and the african legend A song.

You all love Santi now, wait until he goes to City in a year or two's time. We all know you guys have become a feeder club to the big boys ;)

Just joking Bully, he is a fantastic player. Would welcome him to United if he ever wanted to move though

Serious question .. The way things have been going (and seem to be continuing that way), are you confident you'll always be a "Big Boy"
