As for cost...

Flights were approx 3.5K for 2 people.
Accom was about 375 a night, so about 2.5K.
And it is nearly impossible to spend 4K in a week there.
I think we would have spent an average of 150-200 a day there, and had an island drop, cruises, snorkelling, ate out lunch and dinner, massages, scooter hire etc.

Ron, we stayed at either the best or second best resort in Raro, and it cost about 150 per night booked through an agent. The couple next door rang the resort direct and booked and were charged about 350 per night. We spent nothing other than the money it took to get us Heinekens during "HAPPY HOUR" which extended from 4 every afternoon. Seriously, everything in the resort was free apart from internet access and food and drinks.

Air Asia are offering flights from Melbourne to London from $250!

Of course being a Low Cost Carrier, everything is chargable (checked luggage - $18 for 20kg, food, in flight entertainment etc). Also, you have to book separate legs (ie Mel-KL, KL-London Stanstead), and you'd have to get to Melbourne, but it would still be way cheaper than the cheapest full service airline.
They don't keep me here because I'm gorgeous and 5'10

Tell me Ron?
Did you use a travel agent or book it all yourself?
Was food ie. breakfasts included with any of your accommodation?
Cheers

Booked myself WLF. I was speaking to the accom owners (Jim and Joanne) and they said it is pointless going through an agent when staying in Aitutaki, easier to go direct. When booking with these guys they can arrange your flights, transfers etc.

There was a tropical breakfast included daily in the rate, it was local fruits, toast, cereal, juice etc. If you are wanting to go to the cooks, I seriously recommend this place, a class act. When compared to the major resorts on the island, Pacific Resort and Aitutaki Lagoon Resort, it is of equal quality but much more reasonably priced and more personally run.

Aitutaki is a lot smaller, and much more honeymoon orientated than Rarotonga. As someone mentioned earlier, it may be worth spending a day or two at Raro to have a look around, it is great too. On Aitutaki we hardly saw a kid all holiday, but still able to do stuff like snorkel, skuba, deep sea fishing, kite surfing etc.

The NZ army had come and rebuilt it and it looks great.
Still quite a few ruins on the back roads but all the major items are 100%
