Broome

Been a while!

Just got back from a trip up to Broome. What a brilliant place.

Loosely, we did the following:

Broome for 5 nights, including:

Matso's brewery - Ginger beer!!! WOW!
Pearl Luggers
Malcolm Douglas' Croc Park
Sunset Camel Safari
Whale spotting cruise
Fish and Chips plus beer while watching the sun go down at Cable Beach
Saturday court markets

We also hired a 4X4 and got out amongst the Kimberley:

Cape Leveque - what a road! Amazing place with the contrast of red cliffs, white sand and deep blue water.

Derby - what a S***hole! The Prison Boab is fascinating. Aside from that, the highlight is leaving

Windjana Gorge - spectacular cliffs and awesome campground. The Gorge walk is priceless with at lease 30 crocs sunning themselves and posing for pics.

Bell Gorge - Again, spectacular all round. Bit of a tough walk, especially with a 2 year old on my back, but we were well rewarded with a beautiful swimming lagoon at the bottom of a tiered waterfall. Plenty of Goanna's about checking us out too!

2 tips for young players:

1.If you're going bush, take 2 spares!!! Our hir car only had one, which we had to use. The lack of a 2nd spare kept us from seeing Fitzroy Crossing and Geike Gorge.

2.Drop your 4X4 tyre pressure on the dirt to avoid the outcome of tip 1!

Broome is a brilliant place.

I'm 100% behind the 'NO KIMBERLEY GAS HUB' campaign. Don't stuff up the Kimberley with a bloody Gas plant!

Could think of worse places to live!

Not sure about wet season though. Hot, humid, stingers in the water, muddy roads and lots of flooding.

Cool lifestyle though!

Will try to upload some pics if I get a chance
