A lot of people knock P&O, but it's hard to know how many of those are old, cranky and intolerant of younger people. From what I've read and hear, the benefits with their cruises are that they're cheaper than the more formal type of lines and the passenger collective has a younger average age. Wubs might be worth talking to a travel agent, because often they can get you a better price than going directly through a Cruiseline - You can also hit them up for freebies (free laundry, onboard credit, free wifi etc).

Thanks mate. I went into flight centre on the weekend for a quote, but they suggested for my age and my needs, mainly the dates i can go suggested Royal Caribbean. I am also getting a quote from RAA travel too.

Has anyone been with Royal Caribbean Voyager of the Sea

One of my best mates went on Explorer Of The Seas (I think it was that one) and said it was excellent - They'll be in $USD though so a bit to weigh up cost-wise maybe. From what he told me there was a heap more to do for say the 20-50yr olds than there is with other lines like Princess and maybe Norwegian.

We went on the RC Ovation of the Seas last year, it covered all ages, if traveling alone they do have meet ups for those in a similar position which is a great idea.

Its all in US dollars, we got the full drinks package though so didn't need to spend much $ on the ship.

That was what my mate did too (re: Drinks package) and whilst he didn't have a basis for comparison being the only cruise he's done, he was more than happy with the cost. Once you've got the drinks covered for the average non-art/jewellery purchaser, there really shouldn't be any additional costs outside of the Casino.

Some of the lines offer free or heavily discounted cruises, based on your spending on previous cruises with the same line. Some of the stories you hear didn't actually require a huge spend either.

Just booked for January next year on Grand Princess. Singapore -> Kota Kinabalu -> Nha Trang -> Ho Chi Min City -> Sihanoukville -> Bangkok -> Koh Samui -> Singapore.

Only been to Bali so looking forward to getting a bit further into South East Asia. Will be our first decent trip with (by then) three year old, thought a cruise would be easiest with her. Got a balcony for the first time so we can still get some air while she's asleep. In-laws are on too and are happy to do a bit of babysitting while we're there as well. Fourth cruise for us total, second with Princess. A week in Singapore prior to embarkation.

Younger kids seem to enjoy the kids club more than the older ones too, so that might be a win/win. That looks an awesome trip mate

All fantastic places and hopefully the Coronavirus has well and truly ran its race by then or you might end up with a free 2 week stopover on Christmas Island

Nice mate, easy to enjoy some time in Singapore, you'll do two days over on Sentosa at Universal Studios, the Waterpark and Aquarium.

If you've got a full day on Koh Samui get a scooter and circumnavigate the island, will take around 3 hours and is the best way to check out some great views from up high.

Depends how long the trip is for and how far in advance you purchase it. Seems about $80-$90 $AUD is about the going rate. Have to check the fine print though, a lot of them now are capped at around 15 drinks per day, and often don’t include the higher end cocktails or spirits. Personally I’ve never bothered with the package because whilst I’ll have more than 15 on my drinking days, I have a few AFD’s aswell and to get your value you really need to be on the suds every day.

That’s pretty good value for the upgrade. The other thing to do is squeeze your TA (if using one) for as many perks as you can get.

Thats not a bad deal going to WA.
I wouldn't worry about the 45min travel from Busso to Margaret river. Better off with the 15min drive to Dunsborough bakery.....

My wife and I did a NZ cruise with Celebrity in December.
Skipped the drinks package deals and spent about $68 per day for the two of us on drinks and incidentals including tastings etc, when the minimum package was $71 per day each.

Friends who are fairly heavy drinkers had warned us they couldn't get down their money's worth on the package.

Yes, even if not an RAA member, there are amazing deals on cruises for Australia/Asia at the moment. A number of cruiselines are sending additional ships to Australia rather than be based in Asia at the moment... for obvious reasons. Those that are remaining in Asia are offering cruises at about half the price that they would normally be... even through to Christmas and beyond.
