Thanks for starting this thread pafc...couldn't be arsed this year ;) cheers for that.

The Marussia has one of the sexiest liveries in years...or maybe its the lack of big, ugly sponsor logos?? Pity it won't go as fast as it looks.

Testing at Jerez has started. Live timing can be found here http://f1tests.info/2013.php

McLaren looked quick on Day 1 before a terminal electrical issue. Webber was 2nd quickest in the Red Bull. Dan the man showed plenty of consistency in the STR, finishing with the 5th quickest time. An unknown source has indicated that the Force India looks like its a handful, Ferrari and McLaren are both handling well but the Red Bull looks planted to the road.

couple of points from Day 1 of testing

*Button's McLaren broke down after 6 laps, was the same issue that put Hamilton out of the race in Abu Dhabi last year. He was out for most of the day before coming back late and putting in some decent laps.

*Rosbergs day came to a halt early with a electrical fault in his Mercedes

*A failure at the back of Max Chilton's Marussia sent him off the track at high speed and into the barriers.

*Ricciardo was impressing clocking up consistent lap times, finishing 5th.

Di Resta ended with the most laps for the day with 89, Rosberg the least with 14

I don't like the Ferrari paint scheme...too much black and white. Call me an old fart but I reckon it would look better if it had either a black or silver front and rear wings like the late 70s to early 90s Ferrari F1 cars.

And I reckon the Lotus would look better if it was yellow.

Anyone with any advice on going to the Melbourne Grand Prix? First time for me since it left Adelaide where I didnt miss a race. Will only be there for the Sunday so was looking at the turn 15 premium zone. Staying in St Kilda and plan to hop a tram or walk.

First thing you will notice is how much more alive Adelaide became when the race was on compared to Melbourne where away from the track you wouldn't even know the race was on. Melbourne track is a hard one to walk around due to the layout, you are always miles from anywhere.

If you do want to wander there are a few great GA spots. One is at the end of pit straight before the first corner, there is some great platforms there to stand on. The best spot for GA there though is the hill on the outside of the exit to the first chicane.

Race day is absolutely packed so make sure you don't leave buying anything until the weekend, get in early.

A lot of the support categories have their pits in the GA section so always good for a wander and some photos.

If you get the chance to head to the exit of turn 4 (long straight after the chicane) go there, for some awesome vids and pics of cars going through the gravel there.

After the race all the cars are lined up in the pitlane for quite a while so a great chance to see them up close

Agree with the sentiments above.

I will only add that the hill at Turn 9 is also a good viewing point in GA. It's one of the most important braking zones on the circuit and always a lot of Spaniards, Brazilians, Fins and Poms to mix it with. Possibly a few Germans too but you won't notice them much with all the others there lol :D

Ferrari back to having a competitive car this season? Or red bull the team to beat once again?
