I'm going to try and have a crack again.. have picked up some injuries in the last couple months, and have noticed growing aches and sore spots in my back and body.. jumped on the scales this morning and i've blown back out to 115kg. :(

Wanna be there to see my kids grow old, and be able to play/run around with them.. aint gonna happen unless i change.. sadly change is hard.

Key is to find something you like doing. Some like gyms, cycling, walking the dog, running etc. once you find it you'll want to do it

Its bloody tough, especially now there is less light and its getting colder.

3 weeks ago I was flying, cycling almost every day, did 200km's in 5 days one week, then got hit with a cold/flu last week and have been floored every since and motivation is low, hope to be able to jump back on it next week when feeling 100%.

"Embrace the suck". It's a saying that has got me out there every (most..) times any time of the year over the last 10 years. If its stinking hot? Shorten the activity or move it to another time of day when its cooler. If its cold? Put more layers on. I've even got to the point where I welcome the rain and love running in it!

A lot of it is mindset. Set yourself small goals. i.e. if running, get to the next light post/stobbie pole without stopping. Next time, get to the next one further along without stopping etc. When you manage to do that, you're achieving goals that get you coming back which should translate to the scales also.

Good luck guys, from someone who successfully did it (from 101kg to 87kg)

You have to do a hell of a lot of exercise to make up for excess calories consumed.
Controlling the input is most important.

With no local football commitments this year and being a total needle phobic so no using my 1870 Port tix this year (still paying for them tho) and being locked out of just about everything I’ve decided to have a year of fitness and challenge myself.
Challenge is;
Run 5km under 20 minutes
Bench press 100kg 3x10

Misso thinks I’m crazy but I have always been a runner and I have always done weights on and off for most of my life so I’m up for it.

April 4th - now down to 87.2Kg from 96.4Kg back about 6 weeks ago.

I'm now sitting fairly steadily in the 84 to 85 Kg range and feeling a lot better for it,
I did hit 85.8 over Christmas due to higher carbs intake at parties but I'm back in the above range again now.

Fitness goal update

5km run times are still a long way off at around 27 minutes. I have had a reoccurring hamstring injury for about the last 5 years but now I won’t be at footy training trying to kick the ball 50 meters still it should come good hopefully and I can ramp it up when I’m confident it won’t go again.

Weights training is much better and already lifting 70kg on the bench 3x10.

If the body holds up by the years end I should reach these goals but so far I’m happy with the progress

After walking 15-18kms a week for the last 5 weeks I bit the bullet and joined our local gym.

4kms on the treadmill this morning and some light weights on the upper body.

Day 1 done. Here we go.
