Attempting a 10 day de-tox, kind of.

No grog for 10 days. I am into Day 5 today. Managed to cook a BBQ last night without a beer. Something that previously I thought was simply not possible.

Got to get through tonight, tomorrow, and toughest of all Sunday (Cricket Semi Final) without a beer.... that's just weird.

If I can make it, then Monday, Tues & Wed (days 8,9 & 10) will be a breeze.

If I loose a little weight along the way - bonus.

Just 1 more day to go.

Then for the 4 day re-tox!!

14/2 every year Grub loses weight !

How's your progress AG ?

Very happy, still issues with beers.......but good eating and exercise pretty good. Didnt weigh myself at start of year but feeling great, notch or two down on belt ect. More energy, sleep better (when I havent had 8+ beers) ....... Its all in the mind. I have done it before but I lose my way and get back into old habits. Doing well to stay strong so far.

MIND GAMES

For me today marks 12 months since no lollies, chocolate, cake, biscuits, ice cream etc. I haven’t wavered at all even over Christmas. Moderate beer drinking basically weekends only and small amounts.

I’m a big lad, throw to my father’s side, and generally put on weight just looking at these things no matter what I do.

Have lost two shirt and one and a half pant sizes and feel so much better for eating none of it. Sultanas is my favorite luxury.

Back into the gym last week Monday, Wednesday and Friday morning. Only 40 minutes sessions, all weight work. Push, pull, legs/core.

Got in there this morning despite a cricket catch up yesterday, was a bit tougher this morning but feel good for it now.

-4.5 from Jan 1. Slow burn.

Trying to cut out the mid morning snack which is normally an apple or muesli bar but doing my best to make the morning Man Shake last until noon or thereabouts. Having a black coffee instead. Water intake is around 2lt per day.

Haven't cut out the beers at all, I love them too much.

Gym has been Mon,Wed, Fri for 3 weeks straight, upping the weights now on all exercise and have added in some lunges and squats to the routine. 5 push and 5 pull exercises with 5 sets of 12 each morning.

1/3/1954 earthquake rocks Adelaide
I reckon if I fall today, then a repeat earthquake is likely

I am square despite still being round
Ive waisted 2 months and am the same weight as I started this year

Cut carbs to max 10gs per day and 16/8 fasting + one hour walking per day is the only way I can lose without turning into a hermit

Otherwise a kilo is 7,000 calories
Negative 1,000 calories per day and you'll lose a kilo per week

Calories or kilojoules?

7000 calories is a lot

Yes, 7,000 calories is roughly 1kg of fat.

Think of butter, basically pure fat.
7,170 calories in 1kg of butter.

-9kgs this morning
Not surprising considering teeth problems
Crown tomorrow & root canal next week so I’m expecting an acceleration in weight loss this month
No pain / no gain (loss)

-5.0 from Jan 1 but I can sense some bulk coming on. Nothing that will rip shirts apart mind you.

Really upped the weights and reps on the exercises I'm doing. Now doing 5 "push" exercises per session, then two days later 5 "pull" exercises per session. Gives me 4 days between repeating the exercises. Getting through 5 sets x 12 reps far easier on each exercise and weights are upped each week by 2-3kg.

Started bench at 30kg 5 x 12, now at 42.5kg 5 x 12. Incline press was 5kg in each hand 5 x 12, now 9kg in each hand 5 x 12.

Squats are killing me, crunches, planks and back raises are getting introduced for core. 3 days every week since Xmas now, 35-45 minute sessions.

Doing well mate.
I'm no expert, but if you want to avoid the bulk, I think they say to decrease the weight and increase the reps

Going to hit some more classes next week, boxing, HIIT, etc, I've been working on some strength and stamina before I hit them, no point blowing up 15 minutes in and fading out. See how we go next week!

I got down from 98Kg to 83Kg in early to mid 2023, but I've crept back up to 88kg in the last couple of months.
Not too bad yet for someone 179cm tall but I need to prune it back again...

Great work Boon.

For probably the first time ever Ive returned to work post holiday having lost weight  still haven't got on the scales but its clear with my clothes and flexibility that Ive lost a few kg's. Walking around 35km's in 3 days last week playing golf certainly helped, but also having the time before that to go for beach walks and to the gym helped immensely.

Back to the gym last night and its almost mountain bike season, which Im looking forward to after not doing much last winter.
