When I was working in Bunbury over the 2012-13 holiday period the Naturalists running the Dolphin Discovery Centre in Koombana Bay there, said that bay was shallow, and sheltered and so fairly clear water too, and that Sharks tend to avoid shallow clear water because the shallow water restricts their manoeuvrability and the clear water exposes them. That they assert makes the bay a place relatively relaxed for the local Dolphins and their young, and that as a group the Dolphins tend to drive off any Shark that occasionally shows up.
I'm not sure how totally reliable that information is, but I trusted it enough to swim with the wild Dolphins out in the middle of the bay with a small group of people, and we all survived...
