This is another building that should never have been demolished. The Jubilee exhibition Building which was where UniSA now is on Nth Tce. The fountain that is now in Rundle Mall used to be in front of this building

Didn't this building get demolished for the Adelaide University Law Building? Located between Bonython Hall and the now UniSA's Brookman Hall?

Gees that bring back some memories. For the last two lessons of school on friday our class use to go Ten Pin Bowling at Hindley Street as an end of week activity. We'd catch the bee line at Victoria Square and go to the end of the line just off Hindley Street near the brewery (which smelt of hops every friday arvo) and walk the rest of the way. Then I'd get off at the Railway Station on the return trip to walk up to the festival centre to catch the 7F or 7G home.
I'd pick up a copy of the News on the way to Victoria Square and on the bus trip down to Hindley Street I'd analyse the weekend teams and explain to my school mates how North were going to win that week. They'd laugh their guts up.....it was 1978 after all

That's the old Foy and Gibson department store, IIRC. A glorious old building. Like a lot of old buildings by the 1970s I think it had been unoccupied for a while and was in such a poor condition that it was easier to demolish than preserve. Perhaps more lucrative to stick a car park in its place. Also it was a time where heritage protection was less prevalent than today, so it was probably easier to simply bowl it over.

Speaking of the old Foy's building, I think it was initially a fancy hotel before it became a department store.

Here's a couple of pics of it in its former glory...
