Booked our major flights last night for in April next year

Going to take all 3 children 11,8,1 (crazy I know)

Will land in Paris hire a car and spend a couple of weeks driving around Europe in particular stops, Paris, Leiuge, Luxembourg, Cologne, Amsterdam, Bruges, Dunkirk

Then taking the Chunnel to London for 4 days and some EPL. Then over to Belfast to spend two weeks with the in laws family.

Sounds awesome and a great area to drive at your own pace. I would highly recommend not hiring a car until you are ready to leave Paris. Can be an absolute pig of a place to drive and parking fees are horrendous. Paris has a great metro system that is cheap and will get you everywhere you need to go. Very easy City to walk around aswell. It’s a little pricey but the kids would love Euro Disneyland.

We are thinking about that because we couldn’t imagine driving after the long haul flight.

We are thinking about that because we couldn’t imagine driving after the long haul flight.

You will be tired and drained after the flight and some people take awhile to adjust to L/H drive vehicles. Depending on the time you arrive it could be gridlock from the airport to the city. Most hotels will charge between €20-40 per night parking fee and the fees in the street are quite high (if you can even find a park)
I wouldn’t bother with a car in Paris TBH. Grab a cab from the airport and head to your hotel to freshen up. Most hotels are well located and it’s always good to have a bit of a wander and get your bearings. You are never more than about 500m from a metro station in Paris and it’s very cheap and efficient.

Agree with Jim. Paris metro is easy, convenient and adds to the experience.

Well, my kids did... 4 and 2... Over there and when we got home... Wasn't til about the 10th night of our trip that they started to be somewhat normal

Everyone is different but you generally should get it worse on the way back from Europe. Kids do feel it a lot more though.
I try to pick late night departures from Australia and get my normal sleep and I’m ok. Coming home I still haven’t found a way to avoid it. Last European trip I went to work the next day and was like a zombie for a good 4-5 days

I guess ive been lucky but ive never really struggled with jetlag.

Only occasion I did funnily enough was after landing in LA, left the airport, spent the whole day out and about and then went to the Lakers Season opener that night.

It was the one where Dwight Howard was playing for Houston Rockets in his first game against the Lakers after leaving them.

Had a 1l beer at half time and then fell to sleep in my seat with 2 minutes to go and the Lakers down by 20 odd.
