Something to do with legislation.

I assume it is but why?
Especially in this Covid/cashless world

You can't bet with credit. You can't use your credit account in gaming venues.

I'd hate to think of the issues there'd be if you could.

I remember the days Ladbrokes gave you credit.

But yes in a gaming environment there are no ATMs, although in a pub the distance from a pokie to ATM is about 3 steps

Ah yeah of course.
I guess going 5 metres to an ATM is ‘some’ deterrent

You can't use credit as an option at the ATM's in gaming venues either.

Why can’t you use your normal savings account then?

I went the TAB on The Parade then realised so went 2-3 doors down to the ATM there.

I was of the impression you couldn't withdraw cash at an ATM/supermarket etc. using the credit function at all (i.e. even if the 'credit' function is linked to a transaction/savings account with money actually in it).

Why don't the authorities just beat the living suitcase out of Jarvo to stop him re-offending?

Are they endorsing his behaviour?

I’m not sure about now but a couple of years ago you could get cash out at an ATM from your credit account. The cash advance interest rate they charged was eye watering…

Yep, a couple of years ago the missus needed to go to the dentist in an emergency, their eftpos machine was rooted and wouldn't accept the card, she then took it to the ATM and withdrew the money so I copped it up the tailpipe twice in the one day.

Once you make a cash advance on a card you will continue to pay a higher rate of interest until the card is zeroed out again.

I was fuming as I copped the "what was I meant to do?"

How smart was the Ryobi team when they completely cornered the home handy man market with Bunnings? Absolute genius.

Yep, once you're into the system you're in, therein lies the genius.

A bit of a long shot in the current climate, but does anyone know of a carpenter/builder who may be able to squeeze in a day or two to replace a couple of barge boards on a gable end. We have a pergola to be built likely towards end of January so no pressing hurry. Pergola will be steel so that builder not keen to do it.
Thanks.
