You can only refer to the expressway for so long.
It was a mistake - and they are rectifying it.. move on.

Having been involved in an engineering firm that deals with traffic flow, I think it's a great solution as it's simple, effective AND CHEAP compared to what else they could have done.

It is a dumb roundabout. Regardless of how dumb people are.
Fact is, if you were designing a city, you would 100% avoid making something like that.

I've never seen the issue with the Expressway.

It served its purpose while the southern suburbs were expanding and is now being duplicated now that those areas are populated.

Those who live down south, would life be better with or without the expressway?

I do agree to a point.

If it were dual-way from the start it probably wouldn't have happened due to cost. At least not at the time. It IS better with it for sure. There is some method in their madness. But the fact it's being duplicated is a good thing, no doubt

same here. We didn't have the cash for a dual way road when it was first needed and could get by with a reversible one. Have now got to the point where we need it in both directions. It was always going to happen.

Agreed living down South, necver thought we need a dual carraige way.

Spend money on duplicating it or spend money on fixing up South Rd between Richmond Rd and Regency road: there's your bottleneck.

Absolute waste money IMO as a Southern Resident. Won't make my life any easier better.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

 as a fellow southerner, you are kidding me rite??? dual expressway will be brilliant... shame it's taken so long to get to where we are now.

I lived in Seaford Rise for 3 years and i can't disagree any more with you am bays.

The expressway reduces travel time to the city by a good 10-15 minutes and as such would take off a reasonable amount traffic from South Road and Lonsdale Highway from seaford to darlington once there is the option of taking it no matter the time of the day.

No doubt South Road needs plenty of work but that is happening (albeit slowly). Darlington through to Regency Pk being fixed will make huge improvements to travel times but the expressway was overdue imo.

So better to spend $400+m to duplicate now (+ $76m it cost in the first place) rather than doing it in the first instance at a total cost of about $100m?

Could have at least catered for it initially. The fact all bridges are being altered adds significantly to the cost now.

duel expressway is the solution. The one way was due to costings at the time where the state was still in debt over that state bank saga.

still funny watching people line up at the gates before it opens thou :D

a north south corridor non stop is required as a must for Adelaide. No more of this upgrade south road here and there, a freeway through the city is required!!

It was worth keeping because it's 'unique' (read: good for a giggle) ;)

Had a look at the Adelaide Oval development and the new hospital on the weekend and they're both amazing to say the least.
It's all the SANFL's fault.

The people rushing through it in the Ssangyong to get Sebastian to Prince Alfred on time, on the other hand....

Exactly, what is so friggin hard about it.
Use it probably a dozen times a week and never had an issue, just common sense is required.
Would hate to see some of these drivers overseas if they cant negotiate a basic roundabout

like all roundabouts, you sit behind someone who waits for EVERY car to get off the roundabout before trying to attempt it. Even when the cars they are waiting for are not effecting their movements through the roundabout, then this causes hold ups. Happens every where.

It's not AS simple as a standard roundabout.. having to look out from two directions at times isn't overly natural at a roundabout. Some parts are easier than others.

that's because the stupid law in this state says, "If there is another car on the roundabout when you come up to it, you must give way to it." even though the car could be 30 metres away & no chance in hell of running into you.
