I'm a bit lost on why they're so disliked. Immigrant family with very humble beginnings made good, they employ 6000 South Australians and would contribute millions to the SA economy with staff, delivery drivers, suppliers.....

You start somewhere and Hungry Jacks, McDonalds etc have done the same for years.

Both my kids started at HJ's when they left school, both of them have gone on to much bigger and better things but the core skills of rolling up on time, in uniform, following instructions and adhering to policy give lots of young adults great work ethic to take with them.

Will be interesting to see if the new owners keep the same model with their Head Office or they slash jobs from there.

Not many big SA companies left.
BHP rumoured to be taking over OZ minerals as well so another great SA company being bought out shortly.

I have no problem with them and use the one we have here on a weekly basis.

I believe however the rumors that have always existed about how they made their initial money on top of also well rumored poor employee conditions probably is where the dislike comes from.

I think some of their alleged criminal activities whether true or not may influence some people.
Personally I boycott them because I don’t want to go to a Coffee shop that masquerades as a petrol station. It absolutely infuriates me to have to wait in line to pay for fuel whilst some school kid is making soy lattes.
Get more staff if you want to get off my banned list

OZ was a merger of two Melbourne based mining companies. But yes, you're right.

Santos still going but obviously that's the minority these days.

This

They are perfectly entitled to run their business as they see fit, just as I am perfectly entitled to take my business to where I believe I will get the service I want.

Also questionable business practices like trying to dictate how much they will pay to build new locations. This sort of shit sends other businesses broke

My dislike is purely their (only my opinion) price gouging.
I see it everyday...the OTRs bump up the price of petrol and try and push the independents up in the process.
In my area, they flank either side of marion road and i go to the independent one inbetween them who is always way under their prices and refuese to change to suit the OTRs.

Pay on the app and way you go.
No entering the store.

Where are the school kids working behind the coffee machines? Barely ever seen a school kid working in an OTR. I call bullshit.

If you're buying fuel between 7am and 11am there's two people working. Sooks.

The most convenient of enterprises in the SA market and you're all complaining how it's inconvenient. Talk about peak 2023.
