Some really good quality posters were lost to the site, especially ones around the SANFL, some good people with good insight.

Can see the SANFL board is much quieter but I put that down to the 2 AFL Reserves joining. Other Sports, I tend to only look in the Soccer and NFL threads, and only a few of the General Discussion threads.

Looking at the top 50 or so posters I’d say of those not posting anymore, a good few stopped after arseholegate, a few stopped when Talking Footy started up and a few when the AFL Reserves joined.

You are right though, traffic is down in the forums I read so it would be safe to assume it’s down elsewhere and up to 2011 there was about 8 or 10 moderators on here all kept pretty busy. The abuse does seem to have dropped off, and whilst being a less entertaining read, I guess that’s a good thing

Got rid of it after not long but it turned out to be a huge positive with the nastiest trolls leaving in protest.
Quality of the site improved immediately and has continued to improve ever since.

Totally agree, basically took the piss out of anyone doing the right thing via the site.

Both but those who complained when I set it up didn't leave then, either way it had a a great impact on the site getting rid of the biggest arseholes ironically some of which weren't in the arseholes lounge.
Being an admin/mod since has been so much easier, was the best thing thats probably happened to this site even if not done by design.

Anyway, shouldn’t have brought it up.

Good to see a discussion about the lack of traffic has increased the traffic though

The trial failed, no doubt about that, that' why it was canned.

Even though the trial failed, the eventual fallout was the best thing that ever happened to this site. That wasn't planned, if I'd realise that was going to happen I would have done it years earlier. It was blind luck as I didn't realise how some would behave when they lost a bit of power.

I've trialled several things on this site over the years, some have worked and stayed, some haven't and they've been canned/changed. No biggy.

Could probably add a few more to that list too. I think thats one of the problems we had having so many and the AL auto culled that, since we've streamlined our mod team things have worked much better. At one stage some mods were creating more issues than they were helping,
Mods forum is a very pleasant place to be with minimal discussions needed these days.
Couldn't be happier with the current set up, by far the best we've ever had.
