Bamboo hut bistro is so much nicer food in gawler, though its not much of a dining experience

Crazy talk.

My mother took her partner there last night the joint was pretty much full and they're used to dining at high end restaurants. The more expensive the better in his eyes. He loved it so much he said's the best chinese food he's ever had above and beyond that popular chinese restaurant in the city and much better than the chinese restaurant they sometimes dine at at West Lakes. He wanted to speak to the chef he liked it that much and gave them a tip too.

I dare say it's changed a bit since you were a teenager Bennymacca.

Coincidentally I just went round the sister in laws and we had the Gawler palace Chinese for takeaway.

My opinion hasn't changed. Nothing particularly wrong with it but I feel like I've made better at home and certainly nowhere close to some of the places on gouger street

5/10 and won't be hurrying back.

Scoopon currently has an offer at Gringo's Mexican at the Bay (I've heard it's massively improved in recent times)
Buy a $50 voucher for only $25 or purchase a $100 voucher for only $49.
These vouchers can be spent on ANYTHING off the menu or whatever drinks you like.
Looks like a pretty good deal.

Go ahead and use your scoopon, but be prepared for the serving wench to come and scream at your table when she buggers up your order, and then for the duty manager to threaten to throw out your food and charge you to cook it all again if you don't accept it.

Alternatively you could patronise one of the several Mex-style eateries at the Bay where the food is better and the customer is treated with common respect.

Had lunch today at a nice restaurant at the Parc de Animales near Orbonne,
Three courses and coffee and a half carafe - 250 ml - of a house Rose sourced from the Tolouse area.
Total for two people 37 Euros.

Also hard`to beat was a similar meal at the`Cafe Gwendi in Le-Grand Pressigny for 31 Euros.

Really hard to beat was a gin and tonic in Ronda, Spain - in a brandy balloon type glass as`tall as small tonic bottle half full of Gin before the tonic was added for only 3 Euros each. (I'll post the picture later.)

Paid 9.75 Euros for a bottle of Cointreau in Ronda too - usually about $45 in Oz.
I can see why Poms retire to France and`Spain...

Don't agree. I'd say 80% of the Scoopons I've bought, the food/service has been really good.

Colonnades Tavern

Steak night $15 with chips. $2 extra for salad/veg.

Grabbed a Bianco Bread - basically cheese and garlic as an entree

I had the rump and Mrs had T-Bone.
Asked for medium and both came out just under that.....perfect.

Just the 1 drink each.

Got the chocolate self saucing pudding and Mrs grabbed the Pancakes with caramel salted ice cream.

Both desserts were winners.

Highlight was being served by a young bubbly girl, who we thought was first night on the job, but normally works in the Gaming room.
She tried taking our order without writing it down.
We knew it wouldn't work out and sure enough she came back with pen and notebook in hand.
She got away with her errors because she admitted it, not often do you hear that.

Total cost was $68.

They are in the entire book, but we used that voucher already.

Place was empty and I hope it stays that way.....

Been down at Port Vincent the past few days, gave the Ventnor Hotel a bit of business. Considering most days I only popped down for a sneaky pint when I told the missus I was going for a 'walk', when the barman asked if I wanted a Pale Ale as soon as I sat down yesterday I was most impressed. Had a belting mixed grill last night and there's always a chance to have a decent chinwag with a local. Top pub.

Is that what you ordered the previous days? Country Pubs have a brilliant knack of staff memorising the locals preferred drinks  you sir just became a local ;)

The publican at The Royal Hotel Moonta is the same. We only holiday over there once a year, walked in in January & he remembered what I drank.
Top marks in my book.
