Not saying they will make their money or anything but the Barossa Districts Football Club will utilise the facility during winter and the Lyndoch cricket club in summer.

Also the figure is much higher than $40 million as the Barossa Rams rugby union club were occupying the facility in winter. The Council wanted them out for the Barossa football club to move back in and the rugby were able to strike a $5 million deal to have Council build rugby purpose facility in Tanunda that cost over $5 million in the end.

I’m sure every other football club in the state is happy for them!!
It’s a waste of money given there is no guarantee it will be played there year in year out.

The government is quick to throw money at this but the twits still can’t fix south road where it needs it most!

Or fix its own decaying jetty infrastructure in regional towns, handballs the responsibility to each local council!

its all about the priorities

Southport Bridge, Jettys, country roads - where the majority of deaths occur thats where the infrastructure spends should be prioritised.

However I think the sporting facilities spend is OK as I get that the 40 M spend at Lyndoch is more than just a grandstand its the associated sporting infrastructure that's being upgraded too.

Its all about the social value $$$ and what reductions a facility of that nature will save in other areas of our community through greater wellbeing etc.

At the end of the day everyone wants their piece of the pie and the states priorities are each persons individual opinion.

I'll sit here and say the country regions don't get enough funding whilst others want an inner city expressway fixed.

Agree, always needs to be balance, all you can hope is that the economic boost that Gather/LIV create means there will be more investment into non-sporting needs.

Hurn 51.7% ( Lib ) 12,580
Watson 22.7% ( ALP ) 5,557

Need more than a grand stand and some goal posts to swing those blue bloods.

Footy legend Carl Ditterich has been charged with historic child sex offences.

The 78-year-old former St Kilda and Melbourne Football Club player is facing multiple charges including three counts of indecent assault and one count of gross indecency in the presence of a child under the age of 16.

It’s alleged Mr Ditterich assaulted the child in Heatherton, south-east of Melbourne, in 1985.

At this time, Mr Ditterich — known during his playing days as the ‘Blonde Bombshell’ — had recently finished his professional sporting career and was aged in his early 40s.

The charges were laid against the footy great by the Bayside Sexual Offences and Child-abuse Investigation Team (SOCIT) last Friday.

Mr Ditterich, from Echuca, has hired renowned criminal defence lawyer Tony Hargreaves to represent him.

Watching AFL 360 at the moment and it's just gone to an ad break. Prior to the break Gerard and Robbo were talking about Alastair Clarkson talking Bondi murders in his pre match talk from yesterday with the commentators. Apon going to the ad break an outro song is played, it was Murder on the Dancefloor.

That’s the biggest quake I’ve felt. Pretty wide spread as well from Farrell Flat to Gulnare and Jamestown

Ended up being a 4.2
