Happened to me 6 days before Xmas last year. Sh@t situation that I wouldn't wish upon anyone. Real tough to get a funeral this time of year as well. I had to wait 11 days, it was brutal. Condolences to your mate and his family for their loss.

This appears to be the Indonesian branch of the business of which I've flown to Bali with from Perth, however they are all branded under the same banner. Bit early to know full details yet but it appears the jet took a different route just before it lost contact which could be caused by a range of things. Hoping for the best.

I fly with Air Asia quite often. To the best of my knowledge they have no affiliation with Malaysia Airlines whatsoever.
Not good news though, have heard they found parts of the wreckage and also a heap of bodies have been recovered.
They have an exemplary safety record and im booked to travel on half a dozen of their flights in May, definately wont be cancelling.
One thing that amazes me is that with the modern technology we should be able to track these planes right to the end. Planes just shouldnt disappear off a radar

since the first MH flight disappeared, all airlines are supposed to have have been fitted with satellite GPS technology (or something like that) however most airlines haven't complied as yet.

Air Asia is the cheap Malaysian Airlines just as Jetstar is to Qantas.

The effwit in a blue commodore that nearly wiped me off the face of the earth this morning by going more than 80+kph down Greenhill Road. I attempted to change lanes and we both had to swerve to miss each other.

He copped a mouth full when I eventually caught him at the lights (so fat good the speeding did for him anyway) and among it all I said "dude, you could kill someone"

His response: " I don't care- get over it"

No shit, I nearly got out the car and beat the shit out of him.

I wish I'd got a photo of his car because my memory is crap. Dicks like him shouldnt be on the road.

Are you sure?
I thought Fernandes owned 100% of AA and Malaysian Airlines have no ownership of it whatsoever and are in no way connected.
Pretty sure the missing plane is an Air Asia Indonesia flight which is jointly owned by AA and the Indonesian government.

Tony Fernandes' company Tune Air bought Air Asia in 2001.

Pretty sure he owns the lot, there are several differant branches such as AA X, Malaysian AA, Philippines AA and Indonesia AA, there may be more ive forgotten. I know that due to government law in Indonesia that Indonesian govt must own a % of all airlines so Fernandes only has a half share in that branch. The missing plane I believe was an Indonesia AA.
But yes dont believe everything heard on the tv, a lot of media trying to hype it as some sort of conspiracy against MA.

A couple of things...

1) what do you do or what would they have been doing?
2) chances are they are doing more than getting smashed mate.

They would be doing customer service work at a swimming centre that was and always is fairly quiet on public holidays

And yes they are defiantly enjoying a few 'biscuits' for New Years

Would have been one of the easiest $375 they will ever make

Exactly, 7.5 hour shift doing stuff all from 10-6 at $50 odd an hour

Yet no doubt they whinge like buggery once winter comes along and the hours dry up, or when they have to borrow money of parents, banks, boyfriends to go to futures next month
