Therein, Jim, lies the problem with soccer, if some fool pretending to punch the corner flag is not only part of the game but adds to it, then something is not right.

Also, why do soccer players always have to be touching each others faces? Whether it be happy with winning, sad with losing or bemoaning a "challenge" during play, they are always cupping* each others faces. It's semi- homo-erotic and most of the time looks well out of order. I know my mates wouldn't be up for me cupping* their cheeks after a good catch at slip. :D

Spot on.

I don't mind soccer at all, but those 'theatrics' are a reason that I've never fallen in love with it.

Don't get me started on players laying around like they've had a bad turn...

These muppets aren't some 5th grade hacks either, some of those are top players in top European competitions.

Give me a break. The actions of those (any countless others) make that sport unpalatable.

Couldn't agree more.

The bloke has been unbelievable for Australian soccer but from many things I have seen, heard and read he is not the best bloke in the world and that is very much understating it.

How was Troisi's celebration after the goal .. Ducked/evaded an overjoyed teammate who flew past him lol. As much as I love Soccer, the individual nature of the celebrations has always shit me to tears. I think for anyone coming from a big Aussie Rules background which is always about team and mates, the soccer celebrations is something we'll never get used to.

I'm pretty sure anzac day is the only public holiday that doesn't get transferred if fallen on a weekend. I'm also sure it's only a public holiday up till 12pm.

I think if ANZAC Day falls on a Sunday, there's a public holiday the next day, but if it falls on a Saturday, there's no public holiday later during the week.

Yeah fair point, if that is the case.

Not saying its the SES's responsibility, but a bit more preventative tree removal probably wouldn't go astray throughout the city and state.

It was SA Power networks.

I didnt' abuse them - but I did use the F bomb a lot. THeres a massive tree about 20m away, if that. It's been there since Jesus was a boy, longer than any power lines would've been there anyway. The branches of said tree have been hanging over these power lines since I was a kid.

Any way, as it turns out, some good samaritan decided to ring SA Power networks last night because there were sparks from the tree touching the powerlines and it was decided that 3am was a good time to prune a tree with a chainsaw, rather than waiting 3 hours as any wind had well and truly stopped when I went outside so there was no danger.

Lets just say that the council will be getting an absolute bollocking from me (and probably about 2 dozen other people) today for not keeping the trees sufficiently pruned.

All this made worse as a fell over my laundry basket getting out of bed and faceplanted the floor
