So by that summation only people playing in or for an Australian Team are representing Australia in your view?

He's an Australian, he identifies as Australian, therefore he is representing Australia when he is competing - it's pretty simple really I would've thought.

Is Gary ablett representing australia when he plays?

I dont think his antics are a reflection on Australia as a whole, they are a reflection on him. And he was pretty poor last night. He needs to get better at that, because he let his emotions get the better of him. He is a better tennis player than Gasquet and should have beaten him.

But im just a little sick and tired of the instant vitriol when someone does something a little stupid.

Andrew Bogut - plays a team sport in another country = not representing Australia.
Davis Cup Australian tennis team = representing Australia.
Nick Kyrgios - competing in an international tournament where each competitor is identified by their country as well as their name and ranking = representing Australia.
Gary Ablett - plays a team sport in Australia = not representing Australia.

BUT if Gary Ablett were playing an International Rules match vs Ireland, he would then be representing Australia. If Andrew Bogut were to play for the US in the Olympics, he would then not be representing Australia, he would be representing the US.

There is no reason they designate the country in tennis other than to tell people who don't follow the sport who they should be barracking for

Is Gary Ablett playing an international sport? No, but Gary Ablett is representing not only the Gold Coast Suns but the AFL both on and off the field.

You're right, is definitely not a reflection on Australia as a whole, but people will still identify him as being Australian, and if he wants to act like a goose then yes he is embarrassing our proud sporting nation.

He's a 19 yr old, with career earnings over $1.2m, not to mention endorsement deals. He has not been an overnight sensation...he probably has been one of the best in his age group since he was 5. He would of had a lifetime of people telling him how good he is. He is a product of his environment. Give him a break and let him work out what works for him and what doesn't. I am pretty sure the opinion of everyday Aussies is not going to sway him one bit.

We're allowed to formulate our opinions, he's a first class flogger IMO, if I was representing my country I'd be pretty keen to have the support of my fellow countrymen on my side.

Product of his environment? Please..he's a big boy now.

As for his view on everyday Aussies, it might pay him to listen to the views of some everyday people.

Are you telling me that every person who grows up in an environment of low socioeconomic upbringing will be an unemployed drug addict?

People make choices, if he wants to listen to his entourage blow smoke up his arse then that's his call. Like I said, he's a big boy now, time to put your big boy pants on.

PS - He won't be #1 with his attitude and lack of humility.

How will this affect his ability to hit a ball over the net?

Hewitt would never have rolled over and given a game away. He was ruthless, to his own detriment at times, this bloke is not.

Hewitt chucked that 4th set against Janko in round 1 last week no doubts about it, he just hid it better than Nick did last night. Once he was down two service breaks he dropped that set with ease to save energy for the last. Lots of players do this.
If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation.
