As I noted previously, people I know in health and protection have all had July 1st in some form of correspondence, be it written, verbal or anecdotal.

The life changing outcome is that, next time, we won't take two goddamn months to shut the border.

Agree.

Also introducing the 14 days isolation period for people returning from overseason. I think that will be in place a little bit more often for certain nations at certain points in time. Once again not a bad thing imo.

I think it might be in place permanently for some countries.

Could, off topic for a moment, mean Port never play in China again.

Yeah I reckon that ships sailed.

JUST IN: An intensive care nurse at the Royal Adelaide Hospital has tested positive to #COVID19 after treating other confirmed cases.

She is now in self-isolation, with 22 other RAH staff advised to do the same - SA Health expects it will not impact patient care at the hospital.

That has been my main frustration throughout this ordeal.

Not sure we'll ever have truly "open" borders again. You'd think anyone returning from a c-19 positive country will have to isolate for the 14 days long into the future.

More to do with the amount of organising needed to be sorted over the next month or two that cannot be done.

People don’t just show up in five months and everything is ready

Yep, I think the Governments across the country have done a good job (well, most have depending on the outcome of Ruby Princess investigations), but this was one area we perhaps could have acted faster on. That said, we dont know all the background information which might have prevented it from realistically being implemented sooner.

Agreed, across a period of 72 hours things escalated so quickly there was bound to be some errors in judgement made.

The fact it has taken a pandemic to highlight the importance of washing hands to the majority of the population astounds me.

I would be astounded too, but Ive been on a few cruises (where Norovirus is always either common or rife) and seen enough grown ass men and women flat out refuse to wash their hands when entering the buffet. Just seriously no excuse for not taking 20 seconds out of your day for a decent scrub yet amazing how many people wont do it.

The amount of Germs on the buffet food itself is astounding.

Son last year "Dad, can I please have some money to go to the show tomorrow?"

I seen him in the afternoon the next day and asked "Your home early, how was the show?"

"I got as far as the city and then decided I didn't want to waste that much money so I brought some clothes instead" was his reply.

I'll take that as a win.

More so the costs they, are others, would be spending now and in the lead up thinking they will recoup them in September. Make the call now and save some more financial headaches.

Throw in the fact i think financially most families will be trying to recoup so attendances/spend would most likely be down even if they did stage it.
