changing isp is kinda irrelevant when they all use the same crappy hardware to get to your house. they dont install new cables just because you change from adam to internode for example.

the current NBN plan however is installing new hardware, so will fix those problems. the coalitions plan still relies on the old outdated copper cables they sold years ago cos it was outdated. it will still be the same bottleneck slowing speeds down.

meanwhile i am not a labor fanboi, i just think that they have actually got the nbn plan right, as opposed to a lot of their other initiatives.

Not really if there is less of it between the node and your house than there is between the present phone exchange and your house.
For example, the local exchange is 4.6Km from my house whereas a node at the end of my (cul-de-sac) street will be within 300 metres.

Q's graph makes a point, but given everything I need works fine at my present 6.4Mbps and I'd be totally unrestricted at anything better, I don't have a problem with FTTN instead of FTTH. The cash difference is a lot to accommodate those few who have any need for greater speed.

It is a bit like the money spent upgrading Adelaide Oval for the less than 2% of the population of the state who ever go there.
