Yeah the one I went to, there was a nephew thats 10, but he has older brothers, so he's a tough little kid. The "MC" yelled out "This song is requested by (insert kids name)!!" and chucked on a Sesame Street song. The kid was heaps embarrassed and felt like the guy singled him out and was making fun of him. I was pretty tanked and people had to stop me telling him what a **** wit he was.

Soooo....no MC for us!

I reckon Psyber would be a cracking MC

I went to a wedding at Paxton's Winery which is just before McLaren Vale a few years ago. The couple organised their own food and grog that day.
It too was a good set up, plenty of outdoor space for the ceremony and a nice indoor area.
They just put the drinks on ice and let everyone help themselves.
For music they simply used an iPod Dock and speakers.

I went to a great wedding this year at the Willunga Peacock Farm. Rustic right down to the outdoor dunny block (very tasteful, don't worry), lovely grounds, and the bride and groom brought their own celebrant, own music, all that. The peacock farm people catered the thing - open bar and instead of finger food they brought around wood-fired pizzas on trays.

I haven't even chosen my best man and groomsmen yet, and its in December.

I hate organising shit!

Mine is at Longview this December too.

I have helped with possibly less than 10%, however I've booked/organised our entire 3 & 1/2 week honeymoon, so I haven't been completely useless.

HH, we got married at Sevenhill Winery in Clare Valley and did a cocktail reception rather than a sit down wedding which we thought was stuffy and expensive. Our wedding cost about 30-35 per person including alcohol and all quotes we got for sit down were about the 70 per person including alcohol.

Mate of mine had his wedding at the Largs barracks. Very nice too!

Thanks everyone. I got some browny points for getting some suggestions.

We've added Paxtons, Willunga Peacock Farm and Sevenhill to the list. Glen Ewin is a bit pricey I think, but we'll have another look at it.

Keep the suggestions coming. :D

That was obviously the motto for the guests at my wedding 5 years ago.
I see the venue manager where we had the reception at times and she says it was still to this day the biggest grog bill they've ever had there.
