Would you believe that just over an hour-and-a-half drive away from Adelaide is the world’s best restaurant of 2023?

Well, believe it, as the iconic Watervale Hotel in the Clare Valley wine region has just taken home the title.

The hotel was named ‘Best Culinary Experience’ in the world by LUXlife Magazine’s Travel and Tourism Awards 2023 as well as awarded ‘Best Hotel Restaurant of the Year’ in the global Corporate Livewire awards.

“It’s (Corporate Liveware) a publication that amoungst other things recognises innovation and excellence across between 600 and 700 categories on a global basis,” Watervale Hotel owner Warrick Duthy said.

“The feedback we had was that the food’s great, the ambience is great, service is great, what have you, but what they basically said what you’re doing is unique in the world. It’s innovative.”

Mr Duthy said if people do have a bucket list, look no futher than visiting the hotel.

“We’re on Adelaide’s doorstep, when people are thinking about bucket list experiences they don’t necessarily have to travel to the other side of the world, all they have to do is jump in the car for an hour and a half,” he said.

Have to say i have never eaten there.

Bit out of my price range and when i have to google what each of the dishes contain im abit out of my depth.

Have heard great things about it though. Watervale is a great little town. Cricket oval is real picturesque and definitely worth a visit when travelling through.

The Woodshed, formerly the old Big Shed premises in the back of Royal Park industrial estate.

Set up as a metal :supz: dive bar with craft beers and awesome vibe. Open Thursday - Sunday.

Went to a Greek restaurant in Henley last night, Estia’s.

Staff were brilliant, food was high quality and well priced, views were spectacular.

Thoroughly recommend

I think it was @Spargo who once recommended fish tacos on here, I seen them on the menu at the Golden Fleece last week and wow, they were superb.

A little on the pricey side but gee they were nice.

Yes my wife and I went there recently while catching up with old friends who live at Grange.
(The power was out in Grange at the time so we had to find another option.)

Has anyone here reviewed the Seafood Platter at the Sailmaster yet?

Took some interstate guests there for lunch, they were in town for the day for a cruise so being next door, the Saily was the obvious spot being so close to get back on board the ship.

Beautiful day for it itoo.

The food...200/10 - bloody magnificent - $150 fed 4 of us - it came with a dozen oysters (we had 3 each), softshell crab, calamari, battered flathead, crumbed flake, garlic prawns, panko prawns and normal prawns and everything was so fresh! Came with a tartare, an aoili and a seafood sauce as well as a salad and chips.

It probably would've fed another person too, if needed,

Gets the FC tick o' approval :-BD
