But it is a bit pointless if all the other related Camelid species from the Americas - Llama, Vicuna, and Guanaco - behave like the Alpaca in the pictures used here.
The females tend to be pregnant 11 months of the year, and just spit at the males as soon as they have conceived the next one.

(Come to think of it don't a lot of human females behave like that?)
