I remember being able to get a pie, chocolate donut and either an orange grove or a snip for under 50c for my lunch order.

Yep, similar, 25c for a Fruit Box, only Tuesday's and Friday's.
We also had tuck day once a month where mums would make sausages rolls or cup cakes or chocolate crisps and sell them for 10 or 20c to raise money for the school.

$1.50 at the Hilton were my first schooners. $1 on Friday night *hiccup* happy hour.

I remember Mum giving me a $2 coin to take to school and wondering how was I going to know where that was all day? The $2 notes were easy to fold up in my sock!

25c Fruit Boxes in my day, with a finger bun 50c and a vegemite sandwich $1.

When I started working at Footy Park in 96, pints were $2.90

By the time I left in 2008, they were over $7 I reckon.

Well my old man paid 19 cents for his first ever schooner.

Mind you $20 was a night at the pub in those days...today that just gets you in the door of some joints...

Equating to 105 schooners, that's a pretty fair sip...

Friday night I'd get $30 out the bank. $11 would fill the LPG tank in my XE Falcon. I'd get a week of motoring around for the $11. The other $19 was for schooners at the pub.

Coming back to Adelaide from Darwin reckon my first schooner was $1.40 at Glenelg Footy club.

can remember 13c schooners of soft drink at the Iron Baron Club as a kid.

And gee weren't you sick after you brought a 20 c big of lollies at the General Store, not too mention you found out you had LOTS of friends, even those who didn't want to play with you at recess and lunch at school....

When I started at Flinders Uni the price for a pint of Coopers Ale in the tavern was about $1.60. It was less than a dollar at Friday evening happy hour.

The Flinders Uni Tavern. Think I wrote most of my essays in there. There was a guy that would come around once a week raffling off a tin of 'special' cookies.

I literally never stepped foot in the Tavern, except maybe in O week.

Mind you, I was a Sturty, with only a legal studies lecture "up there" ....

Halfway through second year one of my mates discovered that the Sturt Cave had a happy hour at Friday lunchtime. For the rest of the year at midday Sturt Cave would fill with riffraff from up the hill, who by mid-afternoon would stagger in twos and threes across the bridge back to the main campus in time for the evening happy hour in the tavern.

Sadly the Flinders tavern disappeared years ago. A subtle mixture of Bureaucratic Incompetence and Voluntary Student Unionism sounded the death knell of subsidised on-campus watering holes. More's the pity.
