Edit: Just googled and found this:

It came from a NSW Department of Education initiative to blend physical education and creative arts and was born from a line dance called The Madison.

It must have taken off pretty quickly around Australia as it was a huge part of my life as a little tacker in the mid 70s and the song only came out in 1973.

I always heard it called the Madison too. Some of the more rebellious kids did the "new Madison" to the same music, which I assume was actually the original Madison.

Now, who remembers the Health Hustle? Bad Bad Leroy Brown...

Yeah I never got into that new fan dangled madison.
Hated the "Bus Stop" much more than the Madison and always left the dancefloor when that came on!
Dammit, now the Bus Stop is stuck in my head. ](*,)

anyone else here couldn't STAND Tina Turner?

Why? I can't say I loved her but not being able to not stand someone takes a lot of effort.

Sorry, I'll rephrase,
I can't stand her voice, or her mouth,
looks like Mumbles out of Dick Tracy.

Are Jehovah witnesses still a thing?
Just had 2 females ring the doorbell and offered to tell me all about it.
I wanted to tell them to **** off but you couldn’t meet 2 nicer people.
So I politely declined to hear them out.

How can you tell how nice they are in the 5 seconds it takes from opening the door, saying 'Sorry not interested' and closing the door.
Must have been younger Jehovas with a loose blouse button perhaps

I saw them through the doorbell camera first and thought I’d better answer it as the dog was barking at the door.
They said you don’t know us but we’re in the area.
They then started to talk about my dog and then went on about the weather we are experiencing.
It took them 4-5 minutes to tell me who they were and what they wanted.
Jehovah witness wasn’t what I expected.
I assumed they were the MP for my area at first.

I declined a bible as I told them I have one.

Johos used to come to mine at least once a month.

Now I have a sign on my door that basically says I charge $100/min to hear sales or religious spiels.
Minimum 5mins, charged up front.

No one ever knocks anymore!

I remember the Health Hustle, but it was to Van McCoy. This instrumental from the mid 70's.

i think they pretty much stopped door knocking during covid. instead we started getting letters in the mail box, and they started instead setting up little displays at bus interchanges, and other areas with foot traffic. i was hoping they had given door knocking away alltogether, but sadly we had them at our door as well last wednesday. looks like they feel that they can resume doorknocking.

never used to be a problem at our old place. had a family in my driveway as i got home one day, they accused me of nearly hitting them as i pulled in. told them i didnt, and went inside. never had them return for the next 10 odd years we lived there. maybe i need to contact them and let them know we have moved?

I thought you were gonna let them know you moved so they'd pop around and you could personally apologise over a cuppa and a bikkie
