1970s
When petrol stations were not open 24/7
Having to drive to Cavan after hours to get petrol , having self serve pumps , having to slot in 20 cent pieces in the machine to get petrol.

When they were open
Service Station attendants that cleaned your windscreens, checked your oil, and pumped petrol for you

Golden Fleece on the corner of Bridge Road and Grand Junction Road, circa 1979. Had an attendant, can recall my mum asking the man for 'two dollars worth of super' and handing him the old school green two dollar bill through the driver's side window.

Interesting stuff at about 5:45 about 'devices being implanted in your body' - a concept since replaced by the now ubiquitous mobile telephone.

Yep, spot on Jack, that was it. Drive past it quite often, to me it'll always be a GF servo.

I was thinking Ebert first but then Belton came to mine.
Could have been Ebert(Craig) as I was thinking of a player that played at the Magpies and also West Adelaide.
Both Ebert and Belton fit that mould.
It was upstairs in the arcade as well originally.

Yeah, it was Ebert and Weston

Is there still a Hughes and Loveday sport store?
They were in the city as well from memory.

Sitting here watching a DVD of the movie "Tommy" based on the Who rock opera, remembering the first time I saw it, brought this one to mind:

Saturday night movie specials on the telly, simulcast on SA-FM.
