I like where you’re going.
I think there are now 9 people on here looking to apply.

They advertised my role internally while I was on a course last week, my GM went nuts and now we're in negotiations for me to continue my current role.

How does that happen?
Did HR think you were leaving?

I'd imagine, like me, you've got a mortgage and family to consider and as the old bloke around the house you have your own expectations of what you should be, be doing.

Poor communication.

A long story, my immediate manager finally responded my to plea's of wanting to return to the factory.

The GM had pulled me aside the day before my leadership seminar to ask me to reconsider my plans and we can negotiate a way to keep me interested in my current role with possible expansion.

There was a shit fight leading up to it as my manager told me I couldn't go on the leadership course as he hadn't arranged suitable coverage for my absence, the GM was furious.

Long story short without blowing my own horn, I'm ranked #1 nationwide for my role and I save them over $500K PA with my mathematical skills, I don't take sickies and I do way more than my job description suggests, I'm underpaid and it's understood, our factory employees get huge coin and I want a chunk of it before I get too old. I can fast track myself to become a supervisor out there and set myself up for life very nicely.

Mate, it was something like that, I'm sitting in this seminar and getting text messages asking about my job, I was totally unaware, I thought my chat with the GM on the Friday put it all on ice for a week.

Either way, the right outcome will come my way.

Sounds like you having an interesting couple of days ahead.
Good companies keep good staff in whatever roles they can so hopefully they work something out with you.
Can it be a split role with half days in the warehouse and half in the office?

Shit yeah, I'm looking forward to the next sit down, hopefully today.

No, they can't be split, I've been asking for years to work in the factory from 4am-8am and then do my job from 8am-4pm, they are different cost centre's, one is weekly pay under the production budget and one the other is salary under the administration budget, I even tried to run WA's plant for here on top of my own but got knocked back for a similar reason and they said it would be unfair on the person who has to cover my leave.

There will be a resolve, and very soon, I have other opportunities elsewhere if it all turns to shit, I'm a tad anxious but excited at the same time, I'm confident I'll be happy one way or another.

Cheers mate, I have my ammunition and at the end of the day I'm still employed in a secure role, I have time up my sleeve and patience.

Fortunately Im in the opposite situation.

Was with one company for 9.5 years, way underpaid, ran the whole place while the owner slept in his office.

Was looking for a way out and so was the owner. He ended up selling to a larger company, who came and recongnised the work I was doing.

Two years since the takeover, Im earning over double what I was, driving a new car, looked after very well.

We've doubled the Adelaide branch turnover, while reducing costs and can only see it getting better.

Theres a lot more meetings, reports, etc. But I see the value in most of them and theyre not "could have been an email" meetings. If they are, Im respected enough that I can voice my opinion and be taken seriously. Its a nice change.

These guys told us when they took over, if you do what we ask of you, we'll look after you. Theyve definitely delivered on that.
