My husband had the misfortune to require cardiac bypass surgery and, three months later, abdominal aneurysm surgery. His incisions were joined up, so they ran from his neck down his trunk to his groin. One night, his PCA, a fellow who had had moved recently from the Bronx, took a look and exclaimed, "Man, your street cred just went up a few points!"

A labor and delivery nurse was triaging a patient, trying to get her to assess her pain. The nurse asked, "Is it intermittent or constant?" The patient looked confused, so the nurse said, "Does your pain come and go, or is it constant?" The patient answered, "It's constantly coming and going!"
