I'm sure it's a very nice place - but can you ask your friends why they decided to name their restaurant after the worlds most annoying dog?

The state has long been famous for being responsible for the "worlds most annoying dog"...

had a Tandoori chicken

the rice was just clumped up rubber balls

wouldn't have fed it to zoo animals

avoid at all costs

El Grecos at the Port do mean wood oven pizzas. And the garlic bread is rustic as a motherf**ker!

Delicious!

Yes, I agree. When I meet friends at pubs I usually stick with grilled steak and chips unless I'm in the mood for a Schnitzel.

A couple of places I've been to recently

Sevenhill Pub - Doesn't look much more than an ordinary pub on the outside but dining room has been refurbished and had 3 course meal there with workmates. Were given table service and food was very impressive. I had the burger and could barely finish it. Only thing missing was an egg. 8/10

Gouchos on gouger st. - Had heard good things and admittedly was given a voucher which helps but wowee best steak I have ever eaten. Had the 450g Porterhouse. Both of us skipped the entrée and glad we did. Steak was just amazing. Didn't order sauce used the sauce provided and even that was quite impressive. Dessert was very good but you will leave just talking about the steak. Downside is its pretty pricey (in comparison to my usual standard) I think 2 steaks, 2 desserts and 2 drinks each came to about $170. 9.5/10
If you don't like it, change it. If you don't want to change it, it can't be that bad!

I've found that generally, any pub owned by Woolworths dishes up crap food, I'm assuming the Vic would fit into this category as it has the BWS attached. Went and had a look at the new Village Tavern at Golden Grove the other day. Massive big screen, but still shitty, Woolworths pub food.

The Blue Gums Hotel though, quality grub out in the new beer garden.

Actually that could have some truth to it. Isn't the Vic one of those Graziers steak joints? The Halfway Hotel at Beverly is the same deal. Graziers, BWS and ordinary food.

They are ALH pubs I think, like the slug and lettuce and the henley. Quite a few of those pubs have quizzes so i go a bit. Agree the food is usually average, though I did have some awesome mussels at the Henley on Tuesday.
