If you get in before anyone else you can scoop in having 10 successive days off work while only losing 3 annual leave days.
During school holidays, no thanks
Yours are old enough now aren’t they?

Getting into Melbourne at 9.30am and we're going to head to Geelong on the train for an arvo session before the game. I have only ever been straight to the oval off the train and never been to any pubs there. Are there any good pubs near the ground with a good beer garden and if so, how far from the ground?

Agreed, there's sweet FA in Geelong, some good pubs out of town down towards the coast but that's not going to help you much.
Have some more in Melbourne then catch a train at the last possible chance!
