Do the draws get televised anymore?

I thought I'd give ozlotto a crack last week, done a standard 18 game thingy, thought I'd pick my favourite 7 players from each AFL club. Cost me $23.25, won $23.50.

Do that 4 draws a week mate and I'll be on easy street.

If a million people give me a dollar each I'll be a millionaire.

I’m slowly realising life’s too short to be doing something you don’t really enjoy.

It’s certainly a risk as I have security and good income currently but need to find something that I really enjoy.

I’m not going to change for the sake of change like some people do, so I’m looking at it from all venues before making an informed decision.

Have you made a move yet mate?

I'm in a tough situation. Been in my job for nearly 11 years. A very unique skill set and a bloody good paying job. Unfortunately it's in a remote location, eyre peninsula, and my wife who's been here for over 5 years now is hating it. We had our first child 14 months ago and it's been so hard for her (small town syndrome, no childcare within 40minutes, we feel isolated) and that has been hard for me juggling both. Although I enjoy most parts of my job I have to alter it, or end up not being with my wife and child who want to move back to adelaide. I'm a marine scientist by trade but have been managing a crew of over 15 staff for the last 4 years. It scares me that I'll be leaving something that I know so well for something unknown. I'm going to be talking with my GM this week about it.

Anyone have any jobs going around semaphore? We have a house there so would be handy

I’m still processing a lot of information to see what I want to do next.

Sounds like you have a big decision to make mate.
Career or family happiness?

For me I’m certainly going to choose happiness over a career.
We only live once so we might as well enjoy it!

Enough to be thinking about it :D

In all seriousness I'm only 33, so have time to re-train. But as amber_fluid just said, we only live once. Need to enjoy life. Even if it means selling down the mortgages. My missus is into Doterra Essential Oils (also School Teacher but been dabbling since the baby), not sure if I can be a salesman type though.

I made the transition from permanent FT employment and a good salary a couple of years back to starting a business doing what I love. I'm nearly 42 now.

It's hard work of course but I have no regrets and work feels less like 'work' when you're passionate about it. Part of what I do now is helping others to make change happen, which is more psychological than anything else to be honest. Feel free to PM me if I can help out in any way.

**Bumping an old thread instead of starting a new one**

After 27 years at the same place, my loyalty has run out, and it's time to make a move.

Applied for a role in a field that is totally unrelated to what i have done since i was 16. I never thought i would have ever had the courage to take a leap out of my comfort zone.

Did the same just last month.

Been driving trucks for 30 years (minus a 4 year stint working in a winery). We just moved to a 5 acre horse property in Strathalbyn (December 1st) & 3 days after we moved got told the company I was driving for in Mount Barker was closing the doors permanently at the end of December.

Planned to have a couple of weeks off in January to do some tidying up around the property.

2nd January I dropped some resume's around the town & emailed businesses from Goolwa to Callington. 16 minutes after emailing Goolwa Quarries the manager rang me & was going to drive tippers for the first time in my life from mid/late January. Wanted to get out of driving though. 2 days after that (and the week before I was meant to start with GQ) Daish Irrigation in Strathalbyn contacted me offering me a job in the retail side. This is my 3rd week there & learning a whole new world

Have been looking on seek for a little while in the same industry, I'm a greenkeeper by trade with a bit of interest in WHS (enough of an interest to do my Cert IV). Trouble is the industry as a whole pays absolute peanuts. I'm lucky to be in local govt, and the highest paying council at that. To move to a private golf course would be a $20k pay cut. Not something that i can justify, especially at the moment!

1 of the council guys quit last year and took up intestate train driving and the more i thought about it, a new challenge where i didn't know anything and starting at the bottom was becoming appealing.

The more work gave me the shits, and really affected my mental health and home life, made the choice to move on easier.

Being motivated to move on from council (and the great working conditions) lead me to look on Seek to see what is out there.

Train driver trainee ad went up over the weekend, and i bit the bullet to apply last night. If successful it will be an initial pay cut, but eventually will lead to a decent pay rise.
