None at the pub but did have to wear one in an uber.

Stupidly the pub I drink at is allowing people to sit at the bar which makes it nigh on impossible to socially distance when ordering a pint.

Time for Sco-Mo and the Feds to take over the returning Aussies from OS, they need to find a safe solution otherwise we will always be on edge. Esp with things OS getting worse and worse.

Who cares what the quality of the accommodation is like? If they want to return to one of the safest places in the world they will do it.

"In the Northern Territory, COVID-19 quarantine takes place in a former 3000-bed mining camp, Howard Springs Accommodation Village." Only 1,000 in there at the moment.

Look what happened once Melbourne stopped taking flights in, we could all be like that if they have an effective national solution

A mate of mine was in Howard Springs
If the weather or boredom doesn’t get you, the cuisine will
This was his dinner one night

Vomit, there are heaps of prepackaged heat and eat frozen meals around these days that look way better than that.

Of course it’s high risk I just think that no system will be perfect no matter what.
The best system would be a purpose built facility with medical onsite and the staff to live on site and then undertake quarantine themselves but it’s very, very hard logistically to make this happen

Bang on the money. An effective government would find a way to implement this.

Howard Springs NT is just one of many defence assets Australia has that could be used. There are heaps of remote area bases with landing strips but yes some have been associated with "boat people" in the past so it wont be a popular decision with some people (Greens etc) to use them again.

They went berserk when the Govt suggested using Christmas Island back in March
Now they’re complaining about the hotels

And how do you get the passengers there?
No system is foolproof, only takes on careless bus driver or the like and it gets out again. I’m at the airport constantly when they arrive and with how much the passengers touch things I’m surprised there hasn’t been a transmission breakout from airport staff or security. Only a matter of time.
I think more importantly we should be going hammer and tongs at finding how the initial cleaner caught it and look at ways to prevent it happening again. Should cleaners and other staff wear full bio suits or better PPE when in the hotels rather just masks and gloves for example?

I read a piece by some lady who said they were tested before getting on & wouldn’t be allowed on if positive.
She said the security this end was laughable

I thought it was pretty good when I came back from Sydney other than Jetstar didn’t check whether I had a permit to enter.
Mind you, the Jetstar staff at check in in Sydney didn’t care about much other than if your luggage was overweight

It’s actually not the airline’s responsibility to check eligibility. The onus is on you to have the correct paperwork when you arrive. On our last flight back from Sydney with Qantas there were about a dozen folk who hadn’t done it and they simply filled out the form on arrival

Because masks are mainly efficient at stopping transmitting the disease more than getting it.
Community spirit, looking after others and all that.
