Daily Golf - Where you are playing and how you go

Am I correct, that golf for the next 7 days is social only and no comps?
Was hoping to get another official round in, with no footy this week but looks like no dice.

On happier news, yeaterday the postie delivered 3 new Cleveland wedges, 52, 56 and 60.
Wanna get out and give them a decent test run that doesn't involve my back lawn!
If you don't like it, change it. If you don't want to change it, it can't be that bad!

Correct. Going from FB posts some clubs are going back to noodles and no bunker rakes too. Depends on the course. Its social only doesnt really matter.

Can play in a group of 4 socially, but can't play in a group of 4 in a comp

I reckon it will change by Saturday.

I’ve been a Victorian too long. I didn’t even recognise the tree on the right hand side of the 1st fairway, at a golf club where I was a member for more than 25 years. Mind you, I never left a ball up in it either!

Well Barnbougle was an amazing experience. Its took 6 1/2 hours for us to complete our round and we were in no rush, only had to let one group through, had the course to ourselves. Interesting that the course isn't long, and fairways are fairly generous, but they tighten up as you approach the green. If you go into the fescue its basically dead. Every hole has its own character and challenge, thought the patch of holes 3 - 8 were as good as Ive ever played, we had some rain on the front 9 but the wind stayed down and the sun was out on the back 9.

Funny story - Mate was playing with a yellow ball, hit the ball down the middle of the 3rd and went over a mound, got down there and couldn't find it, checked everywhere, no luck. Ended up pulling out a new one and playing it, complete mystery. Anyway we get to the 4th and he lays up so ball only about 160m from us on the fairway, next thing we see a Crow swoop down, pick up the ball and take off with it!!! 2 new balls gone from hitting the middle of the fairway, guy in the pro shop after 9 says "oh yeah should have told you they like yellow balls"

4th hole is only a 220m par 4 but just incredible hole, with the biggest bunker in the southern hemisphere, 5th has brilliant views (below) 7th is only a 98m par 3 but an absolute brute of a target, I hit a 9 iron straight over the pin and over the back and in all sorts of trouble. Greens are a lot of fun with so many lumps and bumps.

I hit a 96 off the stick and was very happy with my game, only thing letting me down was my short irons, only lost 2 balls. Stayed at Lost Farm and that looked good also, next time!

If you get the chance get down there!

Still on leave so went for a solo hit down at Lady Bay yesterday, was a bit windy but again had the course pretty much to myself, 45 on the front nine was encouraging but blew up on the back 9 with a 52. Long game excellent, hitting 11 of 14 fairways off the tee, short game horrible.
